I was lucky enough to be invited to the gorgeous annual Strawberry Hill House Flower Festival.

This year, the festival embodies the spirit of Horace Walpole and “gloomth” or gloom and warmth, with over 30 floral designs from various artists to bring the house to life in a way that complements Walpole’s eccentricities. After all, the pioneer of Neo-Gothic would appreciate a well thought-out design!

The festival runs from Thursday 10 - Sunday 13 of September, so don’t miss your chance! Visit for yourself and take a step into a floral fantasy!

These books were WRITTEN for Bluestockings!

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion have been some of my favorite reads of this decade! They transport you back to London in the late Victorian Era in a cosy corner of the city filled with delightful literary references, whimsical characters with delightful quirks (minus a few irksome relatives and unintended intendeds), and even whispers of a resident ghost.

I adore these wonder books by @bethbrower ! I was reading the e-book versions for ages so when they were published here in the UK, I was delighted beyond all reason and I know you will be too! Thank you to @bloomsburypublishing @bloomsburylondon for my beautiful gifted copies!

Had a spectacular time at the @loxwood_joust this past weekend! My first medieval event/ Ren Faire and it was precisely what I dreamed of and more!

I aimed to go for more of a true Renaissance style with my outfit (though that ensemble would’ve called for longer sleeves and a different hairstyle but we made accommodations for the heat!)

What a lovely day of merrymaking and festivities!

In the opening credits of the Cold War, the United States and British governments launched an operation to infiltrate and take down the government of Albania in an effort to soft launch the dismantling of communist regimes behind the Iron Curtain. Stephen Long’s ‘A Rich Harvest of Bitter Fruit: CIA and MI6 Covert Action in Communist Albania at the Dawn of the Cold War’ uncovers a web of espionage and propaganda.

Most people boil down the Cold War to the U.S. and the Soviet Union circling each other in a ring, but Long’s book sheds the veil on a web of intrigue that spans its threads across an entire globe.

In 1943, Mussolini’s contained dozens of prisoner of war camps where allied soldiers were detained. @karen.farrington.9237 ‘s ‘The Great Italian Breakout’ describes the daring and incredible escapes that have largely been overlooked in the theatre of WWII history. These escapees spanned distances to places like Switzerland, the Vatican, Spain, France, and even Yugoslavia while some remained in Italy to join partisan groups in their efforts to fight the Axis powers.

Earlier this week, I was invited to attend the opening of @thefranciscrickinstitute ‘s exciting new exhibition ‘We Go Way Back’, which ties together the fascinating story of human experience and the way our DNA is shaped from the generations of people who came before us!

I was worried I’d feel out of my depth as the scientific side of the human experience isn’t really my wheelhouse, but this exhibition was not only interesting, but the science was demonstrated spectacularly with approachable and accessible displays. I love a good interactive exhibit and I was not disappointed! Plus they gave me a name tag, I’m a sucker for a good name tag, so that was fun.

Additionally, we heard some lovely talks from the team, including a special cameo feature from the legendary @wmarybeard which was truly special. Hearing so many people share their excitement and expertise for a project is always a delight.

The exhibition is free to enter and just a stone’s throw from King’s Cross, so be sure to give it a visit!
