End of the Road: AMO’s Iconic P-3 Dome Takes Its Final Flight!

On September 30, 2026, the distinct silhouette of a four-engine turboprop carrying its massive rotating radar dome touched down for the final time at the National Air Security Operations Center in Jacksonville.

Our Jacksonville-based P-3 AEW fleet has served as a cornerstone of America’s outer-layer border security. Its crews flew far beyond our borders, providing wide-area surveillance across the Caribbean, Gulf of America, and the transit zones of Central and South America, helping detect and track threats before they could reach the United States.

This final landing marks more than the retirement of an aircraft. It marks the close of a remarkable chapter defined by vigilance, sacrifice, innovation, and unwavering commitment to protecting America.

Thank you, P-3 Dome, for decades of service to the mission and the Nation. taken in Jacksonville, Florida by @cbpamo

🚨EXCLUSIVE RESCUE FOOTAGE! Just after 11 p.m. on September 24, an El Paso Air Branch AS350 crew responded to an urgent search-and-rescue request after a vehicle was swept off the road and into an arroyo near Radium Springs, New Mexico.

Using infrared technology, the aircrew located the vehicle in the dark and hazardous terrain. They then used the aircraft’s powerful searchlight to illuminate the arroyo, guide Border Patrol agents and emergency responders directly to the scene, and provide continuous aerial overwatch throughout the rescue.

Through rapid coordination from the air and on the ground, responders safely extracted the occupants and transported them for emergency medical care.

This critical, life-saving response was made possible by teamwork, technology, and the dedication of all the first responders. taken in Radium Springs, New Mexico by @cbpamo
