Autumn has arrived, and what better way to appreciate it than by sharing some snaps of all that Metro Parks has to offer? Introducing our Fall into Fall Photo Challenge! From September 21, 2026 to October 31, 2026, visit any of our 22 metro parks, take a walk, and submit a picture to each of the five categories: Autumn Animals, Whimsy Walkways, Fall Foliage, Spooky Season, and Orange You Glad It's October? You can capture photos on your phone or camera, then upload them to the corresponding category.

The winner of each category (as well as the People's Choice award winner) will receive a grand prize as well as their photo shared on our social media pages, and participants that submit to all 5 categories will receive a participatory prize at the end of the challenge!

Autumn Animals: Autumn is bustling with wildlife preparing for the winter ahead. Snap a photo of an animal in action at any of our 22 metro parks to complete this category!

Whimsy Walkways: Our 22 metro parks are filled with fall footpaths, adding a bit of whimsy to our lives. Share a photo of your favorite trail winding through the woods to complete this category!

Fall Foliage: As the seasons change, so does the landscape. Take a photo of fall color on full display at any of our 22 metro parks to complete this category!

Orange You Glad It's October?: But aren't you? In this wildcard category, post a picture of something orange at any of our 22 metro parks!

Spooky Season: Boo! Don't worry, it's just Metro Parks. Share a snap of something at your local 22 metro parks that sends a shiver down your spine to complete this category!

*Photos can be uploaded after visiting the parks, but must be taken at one of Metro Parks' 22 parks to qualify. Photos taken at other park districts will not be considered. Parks are as follows: Bank Run, Battelle Darby Creek, Blacklick Woods, Blendon Woods, Chestnut Ridge, Clear Creek, Glacier Ridge, Great Southern, Heritage Trail, Highbanks, Homestead, Inniswood, Pickerington Ponds, Prairie Oaks, Quarry Trails, Rocky Fork, Scioto Audubon, Scioto Grove, Sharon Woods, Slate Run, Three Creeks, and Walnut Woods by @cbusmetroparks

We've got big news: Homestead Metro Park is expanding! In collaboration with the City of Hilliard, Metro Parks crosses a major milestone, preserving over 10,000 acres in the Darby Watershed. Visitors can look forward to new trails and activities, restored habitats, and a bigger and better Homestead Metro Park all coming soon! by @cbusmetroparks

Did you know? Five Metro Parks feature areas that have been dedicated as state nature preserves, recognizing their importance in terms of Ohio’s natural history and granting them protection by the state as natural areas. The areas include the largest state nature preserve in Ohio, the 4,729-acre Allen F Beck State Nature Preserve in Clear Creek Metro Park. by @cbusmetroparks
