While searching for areas around our hotel in Southwest Austin, we came across Windmill Run Park! This park is nestled in a cute neighborhood and has everything a park should have…and more! There are several play areas and an awesome natural trail! We were so happy here and could have stayed all day under those shady oak trees! 🌳

We visited some old friends at their amazing barn in Austin! @fireflyequestrianaustin was the perfect place for my boys to take their first riding lesson! They had only ever been on petting zoo ponies before so they were super excited to “really ride!” The owners of Firefly Equestrian were amazing and helped my boys from brushing to tacking up to riding! (and a bubble bath to end the day! 🫧 ) They offer lessons for kids and adults, with a specialty in dressage! My boys can’t stop talking about the ponies they rode…we may be making the trip to Austin frequently 🤍

I hadn’t been to the Austin Zoo in 20 years so when I realized it was close to where we were staying I said we have to go! This zoo is a non-profit rescue zoo and animal sanctuary! It’s pretty small, but very charming! My kids loved the reptile house and the bear skywalk! And I was probably the most bummed that we missed the last train ride of the day! 😭

October break brought us to Austin to explore some places we’ve never been! We started at @wildflowercenter and were pleasantly surprised! I did not expect there to be so many kid-friendly areas! It also helped that #fortlandia is featured right now! My kids had a blast exploring the different play areas and climbing all over everything! We didn’t even scratch the surface here and I would love to come back when it isn’t 95° outside! 🥵

Such a fun time at @bigairnorthhouston today! My kids ran and jumped non-stop for two hours which means they will sleep well tonight! 🙌🏻 😉 Big Air has so many areas to explore so boredom is never a worry! They have a “Lil Ninja” area for 6 and unders which is where my 5 year old loves hanging out! We had my older son’s birthday here last year as well and everyone loved it! 🧡🧡🧡

Come on, ride on the magic school bus! 🚌 🧬 🦎 The Magic School Bus themed playground at Ridge Creek Elementary in @humble.isd is now open! This playground has so much to explore for your little scientists! There are trees surrounding the playground which is a huge plus for these hot days! We had so much fun going down the huge slide that we didn’t want to leave!

The @spymuseum is probably the most interactive museum we’ve ever been to! You get to be a spy and try to solve a case! There are tons of exhibits and learning opportunities throughout this huge museum! 🕵️ #washingtondc #spymuseum by @cc_explorehouston

Took the boys to the @airandspacemuseum and they had a blast! 🚀 This museum is HUGE!!! There is so much to learn and discover! My kids are big on hands on activities and there’s no shortage of those here! The admission is free, but we did reserve our timed entry before we arrived! #washingtondc #smithsonian #airandspacemuseum by @cc_explorehouston

@peopleshousedc was such a fun visit! There is a life size replica of the Oval Office, lots of hands on learning through technology and my kids favorite: the trivia theatre room! #washingtondc by @cc_explorehouston

I love to do a free Houston Museum District day! Here are my tips to saving 💰💰💰:

1. Don’t pay for parking! Get there early (before 9am) and get to parking lot C! Located right at Centennial Gardens and across from Miller Outdoor Theater.

2. Get a Family Pass to the @childrensmuseumhouston from the @harriscountypl. We’ve gotten several over the years, but this one we got for completing the summer reading program!

3. This one might be girl math, but I think it’s paid for itself by this point! Get a membership to @hmns! It’s our favorite place to be! 🦖 🦋 🧬

4. Pack a lunch and eat outside the museum! Nothing beats a picnic lunch!

5. Enjoy the scenic walk back through Centennial Gardens to the parking lot! Perfect morning complete! by @cc_explorehouston
