Nothing inspires us quite like young people and teens helping their peers who are battling cancer or other serious illnesses.

Huge shout out to the Lavender Girls of West Linn @lavendergirlswl for their 19th annual fundraiser last weekend!

The Lavender Girls started in 2009 when Jeanette Henning asked her 8-year-old 3rd grade daughters, Emily and Lauren Henning, what they should do with such an abundance of lavender growing in their yard. Jeanette had been a JoyRx Mentor for Children's Cancer Association and she and the girls were familiar with the hardships faced by children and their families when they are fighting childhood cancer. They decided to cut their lavender and sell bundles and sachets- and it blossomed from that first year to an event shared by many families.

Today, @lavendergirlswl is an opportunity for the girls to lead and collaborate with each other while giving back to the community. Over the years, the group has grown to over thirty lavender girls and last year, they raised $5,111 for CCA which makes a grand total of $44,859 over the past 19 years!

We are so grateful for the leadership and generosity of spirit that these incredible young women share in support of JoyRx programs. Thank you!

We are grateful for the incredible champions who comprise our Board of Directors, and our Leadership Councils in Austin, New York and the Pacific Northwest. They each bring their own inspiring "why" to their volunteerism and dedicated leadership.

This year, we recognized Sarah Lee Marshall ( @slmarshall123) with our 2026 Purple Torch Award, representing our highest honor for special supporters and champions of JoyRx programs. Sarah's connection to our mission began long before she ever met the organization, and her leadership continues to help us grow.

Thank you to @ccajoyrx for visiting us in person at KidZone TV for a Disney Music Trivia show! 💜🎶

JoyRx has been an important part of our virtual programming bringing musical fun to our patients and families twice a month for musical trivia and SINGO (singing bingo!)

Monday I shared the boxes. Today, I want to share the hearts behind them.
From across the country, beautiful Sandpiper Angels have sent fabric, quilts, pillowcases, books and so much LOVE—all destined to bring comfort and JOY to children and families.
❤️ Kim — From fat quarters to bolts, you continually replenish our project and inspire us to dream bigger.
❤️ Dee — Our beautiful compass of compassion—you see a need and somehow make it happen. You continually move us forward while wrapping the world around you in the best hugs and spirit lifting JOY.
❤️ Heather — Though we connected only months ago, your beautiful quilts are already wrapping children in comfort, hope and JOY.
❤️ Diana — Walking our journeys together and turning difficult moments into love for others means more than words can say.
❤️ Piper — Your extraordinary talents, generosity, patterns and encouragement continually inspire us to do and give more.
❤️ And our anonymous Sandpiper Angel — four wonderful books mean four children spending the holidays in the hospital can Adventure Quest beyond those walls for a little while.
To each of you: Thank you. I love you. ❤️

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and we want to start it with gratitude.

Every JoyRx visit, every family connection, every smile, song, and moment of play that we help empower is made possible by an incredible community.

So today we are celebrating the volunteers, donors, healthcare partners, medical teams, social workers, corporate JoyMakers, families, event attendees, and the dedicated and incredible staff members who make this work possible every day.

Thank you for believing that joy belongs in every childhood.
