Auggie Gingerich (@real_auggie_doggie) was voted by his teammates as this week’s Clackamas XC Athlete of the Week!

The team recognized Auggie for his excellent race at the Mike Johnson Classic, specifically for “hitting flow state” en route to his first career sub-28 minute 8K. Auggie was also credited for inspiring his teammate through his consistent progress, work ethic, and support for the team.

MEET RECAP: Today, the Cougars took care of business at the Mike Johnson Classic down in Monmouth, Oregon, at the Ash Creek Preserve.

Highlights include:
+ Hayden Stone led the men's crew, walking out with a 25-second PR
+ Auggie Gingerich continues his PR streak with a 42-second PR and his first time under 28 minutes.
+ Thomas Donnelly with a 1:10 PR and his first sub-29 run.
+ Strong career 8K debut for Cody Buehrer, with an en route 6K PR.

The Cougars now have 3 weeks to train, sharpen, and prep for the second half of the season, starting with the Linfield George Oja Invitational on October 17th.

Thomas Donnelly (@thomas.j.d.19) was voted by his teammates as the team’s Athlete of the Week!

Our team recognized Thomas as our AOW after completing not just his first collegiate cross country race, but his first EVER cross country race. Debuting in the 8K at the PLU Invitational, Thomas broke the 30-minute barrier in his first try with plenty left in the tank. Thomas’ teammates also acknowledged his hard work at practice as he always pushes his limits day in and day out.

Thomas is ready to apply what he learned from the PLU Invitational to his next outing at this weekend’s Mike Johnson Classic in Monmouth, Oregon!

Annual Returner Pre-Season Meet-up!

Every year before school starts, Coach Carpenter meets up with the returners from the previous season to play ultimate frisbee and dream and scheme for the new year and new faces.

We talked about what we loved from last year to bring into the new year, freah ideas to make this season even better than the one before and how to keep each other accountable on the track and in the classrooms!

We are so excited to meet the new team next week and get things going!

PLU Meet Recap/Travel Photo Dump:
Clackamas XC returned from our first and very eventful travel weekend to the PLU Invitational in Tacoma, Washington.

Highlights from this meet include:
+ Strong 6K Opener by Evie McCarty; 2nd fastest lifetime performance missing her PR by just 6 seconds
+ 8K debuts by freshmen Hayden Stone and Thomas Donnelly (also collegiate debut and first ever XC race for Thomas)
+ HUGE 1:47 PR for Auggie Gingerich
+ Season debut for Grayson Cook; returning from injury and nearly tied last year’s season opener

After Slide 3 you’ll see pictures and a video from our team bonding activity at the @greatbiggameshow, where our team split into two teams to face off in a series of mini games in a live game show experience. This was a fun, hilarious, and memorable experience that our team is forever grateful for 😁

We are pleased to announce that our very own Ayla Becker (@aylabeckerrr) was selected as this week’s NWAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week!

Becker opened her season with a stellar 24th-place finish out of 154 runners in the Women’s 4K at the Linfield Harrier Classic, clocking a 14:44.5. This performance earned Becker the spot as the top NWAC finisher, falling only behind runners from NCAA Division I programs Oregon State (No. 8 in the West Region) and Portland (No. 11 in the West Region), as well as NAIA’s College of Idaho (No. 4 nationally). It was also confirmed just today that this performance from Becker is a SCHOOL RECORD!

This performance sets Ayla up nicely for her season debut in the 6K at the PLU Invitational on September 19th. Great work and congratulations, Ayla!
