In 2020, @bakhtawer.haider & @bettybrunfaut created the first-ever Sustainability Report at the Royal College of Art in collaboration with @magda.tritto - a student protest that grew into a movement for transparency. That project won the #CreativeConscienceAward for Impact, giving them the confidence to see design as a tool for activism and accountability. Today, that same spirit fuels our work at Plan B Creative Studio and Sold Out Publishing - platforms built on questioning, transparency, and inclusion. “Creative Conscience showed us that design isn’t just a craft; it’s a form of engagement. 👏 The 2025 @CCChangemakers Awards were a sweep, with LASALLE’s @lasalledesigncommunication and @1mcnallyfashion graduates emerging from the awards ceremony with two Golds, nine Silvers, four Bronzes and four Highly Commendeds, with work tackling themes like climate crisis, gender equality and war and well-being. These awards are a rallying recognition of these fresh graduates’ hard work, a promising start to their first steps into the professional world, as well as another notch in the Faculty of Design’s continued strength in nurturing socially conscious, globally competitive designers. Delighted to share the amazing news that 3 of our second years won Creative Conscience @ccchangemakers Awards đŸ„łđŸŽ‰đŸ‘Sam Hamdy won Gold for his film elegy “Colour Blind” for a time when the world was less divisive. Gwendolen Franklin and Rianna Storoszczcuk won Bronze for “Before You Disappear”, a public intervention campaign aiming to prevent disappearances by reaching people before they go missing. We are delighted that two of our second year graphic design students have been recognised at the international Creative Conscience awards, with one project winning Silver and another being shortlisted. 🏆🙌🏆 Seamus Gervin Silver Winner – The Planning Board The Planning Board is a Design Practice which seeks to make urban planning a more visible, accessible and engaging process. Realised as a wooden structure, it invites public consultation and shared decision-making at sites of contention. It can be used as a billboard, a public forum, drawing space or table space for workshops. The goal is to de-privatise planning and raise awareness of alternative planning processes (i.e. Park Fiction) which can successfully engage and include the wider public while also generating better solutions to how we use our urban landscape. Aisling Strzoda Shortlisted – Irish Wildflower Patches Addressing the theme of Plant Literacy, Irish Wildflower Patches is a packaging concept that connects skincare with ecological awareness. In Ireland, over 56% of native plant species have declined. Many young people can recognise countless brand logos but few can identify the wildflowers in their own area. Worn on the skin, they transform a skincare routine into a walking field guide, prompting passers-by to ask, “What flower is that?” and inviting users to share its name, folklore, and traditional uses. Together, these projects embody the unique potential of graphic design: as a field that not only responds to cultural and economic life but actively shapes it. It becomes a catalyst for social, cultural, political, and ecological change, communicating the complex, multi-dimensional experience of contemporary life in ways that are visible, accessible, and engaging for all. @seamusgervin @ccchangemakers by @ccchangemakers

This moment that occurred was never planned. Nial and I finished the project thinking we wouldn’t be submitting it to any competition as it was too late to do so. However, an opportunity dropped into our lap and we couldn’t resist but grasp it with both hands. And we did, not hoping for much to come out of it. However, last month, we received the shocking news that we won an award - what kind of award we won, they told us, that we would know when the ceremony took place in September. And when it did, we won GOLD for the category Racial Justice. We were just happy to have won anything, so learning we won big time was an out-of-this-world experience. We take this moment to thank our tutors (@bcu_graphics) who helped make this a reality. Thanks for pushing us despite our pushback at times. And now the real change begins. This @ccchangemakers award will serve to us as a reminder that design extends beyond creating visually appealing work. It is about designing with a purpose, contributing to the world in a positive and tangible way, and driving meaningful change.
