The past two years with the Dunham football program have been truly incredible — an impressive 26-2 record, and back-to-back state championship appearances which ended with a hard-fought state title. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to play a background role.

An even greater blessing has been the exceptional people I’ve been able to work alongside: our outstanding coaching staff, supportive administration, dedicated parents, talented athletes, and our amazing group of sports medicine students. They have all made me feel like family and a part of the Dunham community.

Outside of the Dunham community, none of this would have been possible without our incredible Ochsner Sports Medicine team, two graduate assistants, and our dedicated group of students. I want to give a huge shout out to my Madison Prep family. I don’t give them enough recognition but every single person in this picture has helped me in some way.

I’ve been the Athletic Trainer here for four amazing years. Madison had never had an Athletic Trainer before and I have had the privilege of building the Athletic Training program from the bottom up. I thought it was crazy when Principal Welsh asked me if I’d be willing to teach a Sports Medicine class two and a half years ago but she said, “You already have so many students wanting to help, so why not?”.

The last two years being a teacher has been a challenge. Granted, it’s been a challenge worth having. Creating a curriculum, syllabus, lesson plans, etc was a whole new ballgame for me. I’m thankful for so many teachers and administrators in this photo who have provided guidance, even if that was simply helping me create a quiz on google classroom.

As for MPA athletics, I have had the luxury of working with all of our sports teams and getting to know all of the players, coaches and parents. My goal is to provide excellent care and leave a positive impact. Our sports teams going to the State Championship nine times and winning five of them has definitely provided some positive experiences for myself.

I’m thankful for Madison Prep allowing me to do as much as I have over the past four years. Here’s to being a better teacher and providing better care to our athletes every year. taken in Madison Preparatory Academy by @ccolburn7

I’m still at a loss of words that my brother has passed.

I love my brother more than words can describe and it pains me to know that I will no longer be able to live this life with him in it. He had the special ability to always think of others first which is something I greatly admired and tried to emulate.

He always fought for equality, peace, and love — that was him. He was nonjudgmental, thoughtful, caring, an incomparable host, and wanted anyone who encountered him to leave happier than when they came.

Kendall, you will always be in my heart and I will hope and pray that I can show the slightest glimpse of your kindness to the world.
