Our annual Día de los Muertos celebration is back, and this year we’re going BIG at the Van Nuys Civic Center! 💀🌼🕯️ Bring your family, friends and loved ones for a special evening honoring and celebrating the memory of those who have passed on. Join us for altars, art, food, live music, a surprise movie screening, activities for the kids and so much more. 🌹 This year, we’ll also be hosting a Catrina Contest, so come dressed in your best Día de los Muertos look! This new Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) development in Panorama City will provide quality homes alongside essential supportive services to help individuals and families transition out of homelessness. Meet Cheers A2276562 and Max A2289904 Cheers is a 1.5-year-old male weighing 74 lbs. Cheers is a friendly boy full of puppy energy! He knows his sit command, takes treats gently, and loves to zoom around the yard with other dogs! Max is a 11-year-old neutered male weighing 99 lbs. Max is a very sweet boy who enjoys short walks and is very affectionate. Both dogs are available for adoption at our East Valley Center. Pets adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters also receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success, and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, dogs are eligible for free dog training classes with Paws for Life K9 Rescue at their People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA. To see more furry friends available to adopt or foster, go to laanimalservices.com. The six LA Animal Services Centers are open Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. Last month, 19 works from the AltaMed Art Collection filled the Henry P. Rio Bridge Gallery for Corazón de Los Angeles: The Art of Chicano Politics and Community Healing. The exhibition offered a glimpse of the Chicano and Mexican American art that will be featured at El Corazón Art Park, alongside wellness, cultural and community programming in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
