Every animal that comes through our rescue carries a unique story - and each one becomes part of our mission.   We’re proud to be DC’s only rescue, having saved over 8,000 animals since our founding. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers and generous donors whose compassion and commitment help give these furry friends the second chance they deserve!   Join us in saving lives! Donate, volunteer, or foster today - and be part of our story! by @cdckrescue

For 14 years we have made a commitment to saving abandoned pets in under-resourced, overwhelmed rural shelters. From our first rescue Bentley, to the 13,000+ pets we've saved since then, we're proud to create second chances. Thank you for the part that you've played in their stories. Without your support, none of this would be possible. Please consider making a donation for Giving Tuesday at the Link in Bio. Plus, the organization with the most donations before 1pm recieves a $1,000 bonus! #GivingTuesday #AdoptDontShop #CityDogsCityKitties by @cdckrescue

Valerie has a tiger-striped tail, a mostly white coat and A LOT to say, especially when breakfast is involved. Her favorite toy is…for some reason…a foam stress ball. She’ll bat it around and chase it all by herself, but she’s also very into stalking wand toys and waiting for exactly the right moment to pounce. Valerie likes to be where her people are and will follow you from room to room, wait outside closed doors and meow if she thinks she’s being ignored. She’s pretty independent when it comes to affection though and is perfectly happy finding a comfy spot nearby to hang out and keep an eye on things! She just wants you to know she’s there. And once everyone goes to bed? That’s apparently Valerie’s time to shine. Her foster regularly hears balls bouncing off walls and things getting knocked over in the middle of the night….but she’s cute so it’s all okay. If a funny, independent little roommate with a tiger tail sounds like your kind of cat, apply to adopt Valerie at the link in bio! #CDCKRescue #AdoptDontShop #catrescue #sheltercat #petadoption #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #catadoption #adoptacat #petrescue #rescuecat #adoptablecat #rescuecats #dogrescue #rescuecatsofinstagram #petsarefamily #fureverhome by @cdckrescue

Cleopatra would like everyone to know she is NOT named after a queen by coincidence. Cleo has standards. She expects attention, admiration, cuddles, belly rubs, and preferably a lap available at all times. If these conditions are met, she rewards her humans with nonstop purrs and affectionate little headbutts. Her other royal duties currently include birdwatching, toy supervision, being pretty, and double checking every human in the home is providing an acceptable level of attention. Meet Cleopatra on our website and prepare to serve your queen accordingly! Meet Dobbie! She is the absolute sweetest girl you could ever meet. Dobbie loves people and other dogs, so you can definitely count on her to be the life of the party! If fetch was an olympic sport, Dobbie would be the proud owner of multiple gold medals. This girl love to run and play, but don't think she's skipping that post-game snuggle with you on the couch. Work hard, play hard, right? Dobbie is a clever puppy who already knows the words “sit”, “stay”, “lay down”, “shake”, “bring it”, and “drop it”. Eager for a sweet, loving, and playful pup in your life? Dobbie could be just the girl you're looking for. Visit: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-foster/adopt-a-dog to adopt Dobbie! by @cdckrescue
