It has been a wild few days at Block Island as the big nor’easter moved slowly through. The storm is slowing down and the ferry is running again. We walked to the beach to see how things are looking. Today was the final day of the Jaipur Literature Festival in Seattle. There was some great jazz to start things off followed by three fascinating writer sessions.

Sam Dalrymple @travelsofsamwise spoke about his book "Shattered Lands: Five Partitions and the Making of Modern Asia." Amazing history of how the British "Indian Empire" was split five times creating 12 modern countries. Bought the book and Sam signed it. Thank you!

Picking up my brother and his family at @flysea. Got a visitor pass so I could see the renovated and enlarged C concourse. It's huge, beautiful and has lots of new stores and dining options. Nice!

So... I thought I'd have lunch.

Decided to try the chicken teriyaki at @hachiko.seatac. Channeling @kenjilopezalt for a review:

-- Chicken was moist with decent char and good flavor. Appeared to be fresh. Yum!
-- Gyoza were also good. Tender with a little crunch, which is how I like them.
-- Rice was moist and sticky. Not bad!
-- The salad was the letdown. It was past the pull date. The lettuce was tired and could have been fresher.

All-in-all, a good lunch that made me happy. Everything is expensive at an airport. This was a BIG portion. I could have shared it and it would have been more than enough.

Wow! Double and triple wow! Just back from @jazzalley where I saw @johnpizzarelliofficial trio doing songs from John Pizzarelli's new album "Dear Mr. Bennett." It's a fantastic tribute to Tony Bennett in his centennial year. Just one terrific song after another.

Tonight's show was beyond great with many of the songs off the album as well as others from Bennett's and Pizzarelli's careers. I wondered if he still does "I Like Jersey Best" and, yes, he does and it's still a hoot.

Buy the album (and a new EP "P.S. Mr. Bennett") and go see this amazing jazz artist in person.
