Every stop-motion Droid shot in the Mandalorian & Grogu film had to be re-tensioned. They were very intricate puppets and getting their joints just right for every shot was a must. We needed their legs loose enough to walk which meant they needed extra support to stand. The rigging in the cramped, very tight quarters, of the cave was a major challenge. I had a blast. 💥 Gibby, my cave buddy, is giving a talk in Italy this week about the whole Droid stop-motion shoot we did at Tippett Studio. The last stop-motion project to come out of Tippett Studio before that sad fire sale and shutter of Grayson Stage. Many memories over my 24, off and on, years working with Phil and the incredibly talented artists that became friends and family. by @cdook

These are the two battle droids we made for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu at Tippett Studio. They were guarding the final door at the Hutt Palace and tussled a bit with Mando and Grogu as they sought unauthorized entry to that door.

These were the most complex stop-motion puppets I’ve ever made armatures for and there were nonstop technical challenges to overcome. It was also an incredibly fun job too, getting to watch this whole sequence be constructed from the ground up and getting to spend some more time in that galaxy far far away.

Holly made a special sourdough bread after watching The Mandalorian and Grogu. She is a huge fan of the little guy and painted his likeness with gel food coloring on the dough before baking. by @cdook

There will never be another studio like it. Beautifully damaged lunatics producing Blockbuster Feature grade hallucinations all while under mental and physical conditions that would have sent a normal HR Department screaming into the streets. I was extremely lucky to be there and enjoyed every moment in that wonderful Madhouse. 😍 by @cdook

My 16mm Live action film has come to a standstill. After many discussions, my main actor has broken his contract and flown to London. I’m not sure if I should Lawyer up or just replace him with a stop-motion puppet. That’s why I got into stop-motion to begin with, my Jr High-school friends kept bailing on me when I had a super 8 feature to shoot. Puppets never walk out on their own. ❤️🇬🇧😄 by @cdook

If you do not own a toolbox, have never changed your own oil, and are scared of firearms: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you consider the 2nd Amendment an anachronistic relic and have never owned a firearm: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If, however, you have BALLS OF STEEL and consider adverse weather an excuse to do stupid things? Do you laugh at danger, and tempt fate?
Have you ever uttered the words, “Hold my beer and watch this …”?
THEN THIS IS YOUR ED. by @cdook
