Everyone remembers Silence. Tonight, I want to give Innocente its moment. Delerium feat. Leigh Nash - Innocente (Tiësto Remix). Yes, that’s the voice you know from Sixpence None the Richer’s Kiss Me. But here, Leigh sounds like she’s trying to hold herself together while the music keeps moving. That’s what gets me. Released in 2001 through Nettwerk, Tiësto’s remix gives that vulnerable performance room to breathe. A steady 125 BPM pulse, spacious synth layers and a melodic lift that makes the sadness feel enormous. The vocal stays at the centre. Listen to how the arrangement surrounds it without swallowing it. Delerium were already bringing intimate songs into club culture, and Tiësto understood how to carry that emotion onto a dancefloor. Innocente is a beautiful example of that connection. I love Silence. But this one deserves its own conversation. Which of the two stays with you longer? DELERIUM FEAT. I’m starting the evening with an absolute bomb. And somehow, I only discovered this version recently. 666 - Supa-Dupa-Fly. Club Caviar Dub. I already knew the record. But this mix? Completely different story. By 2001, 666 had already spent years causing damage with records like Alarma!, Amokk and D.E.V.I.L. Then you put Club Caviar on remix duties. Now we’re talking. Bart Arens and Tom van der Geer weren’t strangers to the dancefloor either. Their own Game Over became an early-2000s club classic, while their remix of Lock ’N Load’s Blow Ya Mind became one of those records that seemed built specifically for big systems and packed rooms. They had even remixed 666 - D.E.V.I.L. before this. So when Supa-Dupa-Fly landed in their hands, there was already history there. The Club Caviar Dub strips the idea back toward the floor. Less about the radio hook. More pressure. More repetition. More room for that groove to do its work. And at 136 BPM, it sits right in that sweet spot where early-2000s hard house and hard trance kept crossing into each other. This is exactly the kind of record that makes you understand a club era even if you weren’t standing in that room. Six and a half minutes. No unnecessary decoration. Just two dancefloor machines doing what they did best. I may have arrived late to this version. I’m definitely not leaving early. 666 - SUPA-DUPA-FLY Club Caviar Dub Released: 2001 Original act: Germany Remix: Netherlands Label: Echo UK Promo: ECDJ1231 Genre: Hard Trance / Hard House BPM: 136 Remix by: Club Caviar / Bart Arens & Tom van der Geer THE SIGNAL REMAINS. I could play Illusion, Hit My Heart and this back to back and lose all interest in what year it is. Benny Benassi presents The Biz - Love Is Gonna Save Us. For me, this is peak 2000s. That hopeful refrain surrounded by all that rough, buzzing electronics. It gets me every time. At 132 BPM, the kick and bass seem to breathe around each other. The synth has that grainy Benassi bite, while the repeated vocal keeps pulling you further into the groove. Listen to how much happens through repetition, filtering and changes in pressure. A familiar phrase returns and somehow feels bigger because of what’s moving underneath it. Released on Hypnotica in 2003, this belongs to the sound Benny and his cousin Alle Benassi developed in Reggio Emilia, working with producer Larry Pignagnoli. Satisfaction made that sound impossible to ignore. Love Is Gonna Save Us is the one I keep coming back to for the feeling inside it. There’s something I still love about hearing such a hopeful message delivered in that almost mechanical voice. It sounds like a machine trying to reassure you. And somehow, I believe it. Starting the day with one of those records that needs almost no introduction. Robert Miles - Children. A true classic. And for me, still the version that deserves to be heard first. There have been countless remixes over the years, some of them genuinely beautiful, but the original carries something none of them can fully replace. That piano. That restraint. That feeling of movement without urgency. At 137 BPM, Children is still a trance record, but it never feels like it is trying to overpower you. The kick keeps the track moving while the piano sits above everything with this strange mix of innocence, melancholy and hope. That balance is the whole reason it has aged so well. But the story behind Children makes it even more meaningful. Robert Miles had two very different reasons for creating it. The title came from photographs his father brought back from a humanitarian mission in the former Yugoslavia, showing children caught in the devastation of war. The sound had another purpose. In mid-90s Italy, fatal weekend crashes involving young people driving home after long nights in clubs and raves had become such a serious problem that the phenomenon even had a name in the Italian press: “strage del sabato sera.” Miles wanted something DJs could play toward the end of the night to bring the energy down before people got back behind the wheel. Something softer. Something that would let the adrenaline settle. That idea became Children. So one of electronic music’s most recognisable melodies was not only written to move people. It was also meant to help them make it home. Today I had it playing on a narrow road in daylight. No huge motorway. No city around me. Just the road ahead and that piano moving with it. Almost thirty years later, it still does exactly what it was meant to do. It gives you motion without asking you to rush. This is the track that introduced me to deadmau5. Even after all these years, I Remember still carries an emotional weight that very few electronic records ever reach. deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember I found this one during a difficult period in my life and played it constantly. Not because it made everything disappear, but because it seemed to understand the mood without demanding anything from me. That connection never left. What deadmau5 does here is brilliant: he doesn’t try to fill every second. The track is allowed to breathe. At 128 BPM, the groove moves patiently underneath while the chords, pads and repeating melodic figures are given enormous space. Nothing feels rushed toward a drop. Elements appear gradually, become familiar, then change almost without you noticing. And then there’s Haley Gibby’s voice: soft, distant and almost weightless. Her vocal doesn’t sit on top of the production like a conventional dance hook. It feels embedded inside the atmosphere. That is what makes the collaboration with Kaskade so special. The progressive structure gives the record its scale, while the songwriting gives it vulnerability. Nearly nine minutes pass, yet somehow it still feels like the track ends too soon. Released in 2008 on Random Album Title, I Remember arrived during a defining period of deadmau5’s rise. Years before deadmau5 and Kaskade became Kx5, this track already showed how naturally their musical worlds could meet. But the history came later for me. First, there was just the song. A pair of headphones. A difficult stretch of life. Some tracks stay with you long before you know their name. I had been hearing this melody since childhood. In 2003, when I got my first MP3 player, I started searching for it everywhere old computers, random music folders, downloaded archives, badly named MP3s, whatever I could find. I spent hours awake at night trying to identify it. No Shazam. No instant search. No algorithm waiting to connect the dots. I never found it. But the melody stayed. For more than twenty years, it lived somewhere in the back of my mind with no artist, no title, no file name attached to it. Until 2026. Dutch Force — Deadline. And suddenly, something I had carried since childhood finally had a name. That is exactly why this archive exists. TRACK DATA • Artist: Dutch Force • Track: Deadline • Year: 1999 • Genre: Classic Trance • Origin: Netherlands • Label: Smash Trax • BPM: 137 Some music is discovered once. Some music waits for you for decades. This one is finally mine. Different roads. Same frequency. TRANSMISSION: ACTIVE by @cdr_only
You know that feeling when a melody suddenly brings back a place you haven’t thought about in years? That’s exactly why I love sharing records like this. Zhi-Vago - Celebrate (The Love). Maybe you heard it on the radio. Maybe in a club, or on an old compilation CD. You might have forgotten the name, but probably not the feeling. Released in 1996, this was dream trance at its most emotional. A steady 135 BPM pulse, bright piano, soaring synths and a vocal that somehow sounds both hopeful and a little bittersweet. The project came from Germany, with Claudio Mangione and Gottfried Engels behind the production and Joan Wilson on vocals. Even that melody has a history: it draws inspiration from Rondò Veneziano’s La Serenissima. And this wasn’t just a forgotten underground gem. It reached #8 in France and #9 in Switzerland, right as melodic European dance records were crossing into the mainstream. Thirty years later, I still love what music from this era could do. The beat keeps you moving while the melody takes you somewhere you haven’t been in a long time. Some club anthems make you lose your mind. This one makes you remember. Nalin & Kane - Beachball ::: FFRR ::: 1998 Originally released in 1997, Beachball is one of the defining tracks of the late-90s electronic music era. German DJ and production duo Nalin & Kane, made up of André Nalin and Harry Kane, created a record that perfectly captures the feeling of summer, freedom and unforgettable nights. With its iconic sun-soaked melody, Beachball blends uplifting trance with a laid-back Balearic atmosphere. I’ve never really thought about this in too much detail, but I suspect that Beachball was one of the tracks that started my love affair with trance music. I’d just left school in the summer of 1998, and was starting college, going out to parties and can remember this being played absolutely everywhere at the time. A massive club favourite that crossed over into the mainstream, becoming a timeless classic played on dancefloors around the world. Pure 90s magic! 🎶 💿 A track that never gets old. #trance #trancefamily #trancemusic #trancelife #trancelovers @andry.nalin by @cdr_only
I’ve been waiting a long time to put this one on Midnight Transmission. If Your Latest Trick brought you to Gabriel Crockett, I hope you turned the record over. On the back of that 2000 Mo’Bizz twelve-inch was Krischa, with Ittybitty’s VFM Mix sitting at B1. You could buy the record for the tune on the front and come away with a second weapon for your next set. Ittybitty’s mix is an absolute belter. It has the kind of hard house energy that makes you lean over the booth to get a look at the label. Then comes the hunt for the exact version. It also found its way to Australia’s Dinky Volume 3 compilation in 2001, which is where today’s play comes from. Your Latest Trick on one side and Krischa on the other. Some records earn their place in the bag twice. Tonight on Midnight Transmission, I’m bringing you one of the records that made 1999 such a huge year for trance. Veracocha’s Carte Blanche is one I’d expect to find in almost every trance head’s archive. Behind that name are Ferry Corsten and Vincent de Moor. They made it in Ferry’s bedroom studio at his parents’ house, after spending hours trying to find the hook. Vincent stepped away for a cigarette while Ferry kept improvising. Then Vincent called across the attic to ask what he’d just heard. Ferry only remembered parts, so they pieced the melody back together between them. Think about that when the lead opens up. A phrase they had to reconstruct became the part so many of us recognise before the ID appears. Give that melody the room it deserves tonight. Happy Halloween to everyone on the Midnight Transmission frequency. Tonight I’m letting Paul Glazby’s I’m Your Nightmare into the booth. I picked this 2002 Tidy record for the way its relentless hard house rhythm puts a chase scene in my head. You can almost picture the villain finding the decks before anyone finds the exit. That’s exactly the atmosphere I wanted for tonight’s selection. In 2004, Glazby was preparing a Nightmare on Glazby Street room at the Tidy Weekender and mentioned a Freddy Krueger costume. The glove, he pointed out, would get in the way. A fair concern when you’ve got records to cue. Wherever you’re spending tonight, I hope you’ve found good company and somebody who knows which record to play next. Have a brilliant Halloween and thanks for keeping this frequency alive. Some nightmares deserve another play. PAUL GLAZBY - I’M YOUR NIGHTMARE ORIGINAL MIX Released: 2002 Origin: UK Label: Tidy Trax Genre: Hard House BPM: 151 THE SIGNAL REMAINS. Listen between the choruses. Reech’s Give Me Your Love has more on its mind than falling in love. The sung hook asks for someone. The rap imagines what life could look like once fear and bad memories are behind you. That little connection is what I want you to hear on the next play. Released in 1994, this is Eurodance with its heart completely on show. At 143 BPM, the beat keeps the song moving while the chorus gives that hopeful feeling a melody you can carry away. Listen to the change in delivery. The rap sits close to the rhythm, then the singing opens everything up again. One pushes the story forward. The other gives you the feeling. I love how direct it all is. Wanting someone, wanting a better future and letting yourself get a little carried away by the possibility. For me, that’s where the warmth in this record comes from. A good one for the last stretch of daylight, with the volume up and a few things still to look forward to. The chorus asks for love. The verses make room for it.
