i’m honestly pretty happy with my haul but flabbergasted by the total price after calculating back in sg but tis a once a year splurge :”)

This is takigyo, a waterfall meditation ceremony found in Japan that’s meant to cleanse and purify the body and soul.

Buddhist monks and Shinto priests have done this practice for a thousand years and now it’s a special experience open to tourists visiting Japan!

The catch is that it’s only available in the Fall-Winter months because that’s when the water is freezing — so it’s an actual challenge.

I did this experience while on a thetravelintern trip to kyotobythesea and walked away with a special ornament blessed by the priest himself. And feeling like I just f story reset myself 🤸

SAVE THIS cause i’m not exaggerating when I say this is the most beautiful ancient village in China 🇨🇳🍁

Nestled in the mountains of Yongjia County, Linkeng Ancient Village looks straight out of a drama but it’s very much real. Every Nov-Dec, the 700 year old village is decorated in dried spices and fruits to celebrate the autumn harvest!

It draws tons of local tourists but foreigners? Not so much. My theory is that it’s quite a hassle to get there. It’s a 1.5-2hr drive from Wenzhou city. Then a 15-20 minute walk to the entrance where we bought our tickets!

I recommend coming close to sunset so you can take pictures and see how the town lights up at dusk. It can get pretty cold at night so dress warmly!

Don’t forget to get a 灯盏糕 fresh from a food cart there hehe a Zhejiang special ❤️

Wenzhou is my ancestral town so this has always been a bucket list spot for me to visit and I’m glad I caught it during the festival period~

The season is coming up this year so keep a look out on XHS for the dates!
