I’ve been making music for a very long time, and sometimes it feels like some of the records I’ve made have disappeared into a void. Being an independent artist is not an easy road, but I keep making music because I love it—and because I can’t imagine not making it.
In 2014, I released a record called La Edad de la Violencia, an album I’ve always been very proud of. Recently, I was reminded of it when David Byrne included “Cuervo” on his “Mexico!” Playlist. That song, in particular, was inspired by my love for Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Like many books I’ve read over the years, it deeply moved me at the time and inspired me to write three songs based on the novel.
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to @davidbyrneofficial for noticing the song and to everyone who has supported me throughout the years—to those who have listened, shared my music, come to shows, and stayed along for the ride. It’s not always easy but I’m still here.
For now, I’m working on a new album that I’m very excited to share with you in the near future.
I also have some shows coming up, and I’ll share those dates with you soon too.
Sending love to you all 💖 by @cecibastida

This is my first album. It was released in 2010 and, for some reason, it was unavailable on streaming platforms for several years. After playing in bands during my adolescence and being part of other projects, I knew it was time to do something of my own. The recording process was a lot of fun, and I always felt supported by my friends who produced it, @thegifted_music (@jamesbairian & Louis Castle) Thanks as well to @richard_egan_jr and @tan.halen for being by my side during that time and believing in me. I’m very happy to be able to share it with you again. This is Veo la marea.
