Ceibo Gallery thanks everyone who joined us for HORTALIZAS, a solo exhibition by Guadalupe Carrizo (@guadalupecarrizo.art), presented with Laundromat Art Space (@laundromatartspace). Special thanks to Laundromat for making this exhibition possible.

Guadalupeโ€™s research explores plant resistance to herbicides and challenges agroindustrial production. In Coleccionismo Contemporaฬneo, curator Luis Mariฬa Rojas writes: โ€œLa maleza es soฬlo โ€˜malezaโ€™ cuando es atravesada por la perspectiva del intereฬsโ€ (โ€œA weed is only a โ€˜weedโ€™ when viewed through the lens of interestโ€).

Through plant material, testimony, and collective memory, her work reclaims other ways of producing knowledge and relating to the territory. As Rojas writes: โ€œLas obras que conforman esta serie son la imagen simboฬlica de una resistenciaโ€ (โ€œThe works in this series are symbolic images of resistanceโ€).

Ceibo Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Guadalupe Carrizo (@guadalupecarrizo.art) in collaboration with Laundromat Art Space, Miami (@laundromatartspace).

In HORTALIZAS: Sprout, Edge, and Emergence, Carrizo approaches the vegetal as a site of transformation-where growth, emergence, and decay become ways of considering the body, matter, and their relationship to the environment.

The exhibition brings together a body of work that moves between the organic and the constructed, the intimate and the exterior, the visible and what is yet to emerge.

Artist Spotlight: Guadalupe Carrizo

Guadalupe Carrizo is an Argentine visual artist, photographer, and environmental activist whose practice explores the relationships between nature, territory, resistance, and environmental transformation. Working with herbicide-resistant plants, Carrizo transforms plant matter into pigment and artwork, examining the ways landscapes and ecosystems respond to human intervention.

Carrizo is currently showing with Ceibo Gallery at Laundromat Art Space in โ€œHortalizas: Sprout, Edge, and Emergence,โ€ a solo exhibition exploring the relationship between plants, territory, and resistance. Working with herbicide-resistant plants, Carrizo transforms botanical matter into pigments and artworks, highlighting the tension between ecological systems and the forces that seek to control them. The exhibition considers plants as sites of resilience and emergence, connecting environmental concerns with questions of territory and resistance.

Continuing our exploration of the Venice Biennale, we begin with the Argentine Pavilion.

In Monitor Yin Yang, Matiฬas Duville shifts drawing into space, transforming it into a walkable landscape of salt and charcoal. The tension between these materials evokes geological memory, transformation, and human presence. As visitors move through the installation, they alter its surface: the body becomes part of a collective, ever-changing inscription. Curated by Josefina Barcia, the Argentine Pavilion considers landscape as an unstable material, where each trace transforms the relationship between territory and experience.

Curator: Josefina Barcia | Arsenale, Venice

Congratulations to Matiฬas Duville (@matiasduville) and Josefina Barcia (@josefinabarcia) on this remarkable presentation.

Iโ€™m excited to share more about an independent curatorial research project Iโ€™ve been developing with @ceibogallery centered on the practice of Argentine artist Claudia Santanera.

Over the past six months, @claudiasantanera and I have been in conversation about her sustained work with caranday palm fiber. Since 2017, she has explored weaving alongside artisan families in Copacabana, Coฬrdoba. That history has led me to look more closely at the material itself, the knowledge held in its making, and the relationships through which that knowledge is shared.

The caranday opens onto questions that extend beyond the finished work: Where does the material come from? Who knows how to work with it? How are techniques learned, adapted, and passed on? These questions are shaping a long-term curatorial project informed by anthropological research into material, territory, collective labor, and embodied knowledge.

Later this fall, Iโ€™ll travel to Coฬrdoba and Copacabana to continue the research alongside Claudia. Iโ€™m looking forward to spending time with the places and processes that have been part of our conversations, and to letting what I encounter there shape the next phase of the project.

Iโ€™m grateful to Claudia and Ceibo โœจ @gabrielakarpiuk @groybrenda โœจ for their trust and generosity, and for the space to approach this work with care and curiosity ๐ŸŒฟ

โ€œRosa paฬlido is part of a series of landscapes where the otherworldly takes center stage. Like an echo of memory, the clouds appear with blurred edges, suspended in a fragile stillness. At the same time, the warm atmosphere creates a subtly altered space, where the different planes seem to melt into one another, leaving only a few points of blue in focus.

Is this the tangible form of the sky we look at, or simply a reminder of what is slowly ceasing to be?

Either way, the impossibility of holding on to a single state becomes evident through stillness.

But a moment, however brief, is enough.โ€

From Monteros, Tucumaฬn to Miami, Adriaฬn Sosaโ€™s participation in To Inhabit a Cloud was an important part of our work at Ceibo Gallery: creating a space for his practice to enter into dialogue with an international context.

Rooted in the landscape and social history of Tucumaฬn, his work explores the intersections of body, territory, labor, and material memory, transforming lived experience into gesture, action, and testimony.

We are pleased to share the feature published by Art Miami (@artmiamimag) on the exhibition, presented at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery (@thefrankpembrokepines) with curatorial work by Sophie Bonet (@bonet.hekit)

For Ceibo, these encounters are part of our ongoing commitment to connecting Latin American artists with new contexts and audiences.

At Ceibo Gallery, we are pleased to present the work of Claudia Santanera.

Claudia Santanera is a poet and visual artist. Since 2017, her practice has unfolded alongside families of basket weavers who work with caranday palm in the village of Copacabana, located in the central mountain ranges of Coฬrdoba Province, Argentina.

She has developed a body of work in which weaving and writing emerge as reversible forms of thought. Her installations explore the relationships between memory, territory, and time, proposing spaces where words become material and weaving becomes a form of inscription.

Rooted in collaborative processes and shared knowledge, her work reflects on the ways stories are transmitted, transformed, and preserved through collective making.
