Thank you so much to everyone who came to the PERSEVERANTIA album release concert at Roulette on March 5. It was a very special concert for me. Thank you, Pauline, Celia, and Andrew, for performing my music with such depth and passion. Thank you, Roulette, for giving us an opportunity to present this music in such wonderful setting. Thank you to every audience member — I could feel how concentrated your listening was. My heart is filled with gratitude. Here are some moments from that night:
1. Backstage moment — some last minute rehearsing right before going on stage
2. Fragment from the 1rst movement — “Before 24”
3. Fragment from 6th movement — “Refugees”

After a few years away, we're delighted to welcome cellist Andrew Janss (@cellojanss ) back to CCCMF for our Tenth Anniversary Season! A founding member of CCCMF Ensemble-in-Residence the @manhattanchamberplayers , Andrew has performed with many renowned artists and ensembles, including Itzhak Perlman, @escherquartet , Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Andrew also recently launched @arcotypebows, the world's first self-rehairable bow geared towards teachers and performers.

Andrew will perform for CCCMF 2025 on October 10, 11, 13, and 15.

🎵What about being in New Orleans this October are you most looking forward to?
"It’s so cliche, but the live music and the food are just like nowhere else. And of musicians that CCCMF brings down are just at the absolutely best anywhere, so it’s always a delight to be a part of the festival!"

🎵What's a fun fact about you that we wouldn't know by reading your bio?
"I converted a Dodge Sprinter into a camper van during the pandemic and drove it around the Western US… even went to Burning Man in it!"

🎵If you could have dinner or a drink with one composer or artist, who would it be, and why?
"I’m going to say and say Benjamin Franklin (I think he counts as an artist 😅… a polymath anyway). I’m just fascinated that one man could be so actively and intrusively able to revolutionizing so many facets of the world, scientifically and socially, in one lifetime."

On this day 216 years ago, Felix Mendelssohn, perhaps the greatest prodigy in Western music history, was born (Mozart is always cited as being the greatest, but if you take a look at the history and music, Mendelssohn has a pretty compelling case here).

One of the many miraculous creations of Mendelssohn's youth was his magnificent Octet for Strings, Op. 20, unbelievably written when he was only 16 years old! Please enjoy this clip from the conclusion of a live performance of it by MCP and the @doverquartet at the @crescentcitycmf a few years ago.

A week ago today, MCP was honored to perform at the @museumjewishheritage on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

For it, we performed a program of music by composers whose lives and careers were tragically cut short during this horrific time in world history alongside some of the most powerfully uplifting works in the chamber repertoire.

Thank you to all who attended, and to the Museum of Jewish Heritage for presenting this beautiful, important, and meaningful event ❤️ taken in Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust by @cellojanss

Join MusicTalks for our new series Masterpiece Sundays with it’s first concert Brahms Clarinet Quintet on Sunday 9/29 at 2pm at @mm_jccmanhattan
Come hear what makes Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet one of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire as part of MusicTalks’ new Sunday Series. Designed to immerse audiences in the rich tapestry of classical music, this Sunday afternoon concert will highlight Brahms’ soulful Clarinet Quintet with fascinating anecdotes about the music and musical demonstrations of Brahms’ unique chamber music writing.
The program will culminate with the short and mesmerizing “Esquisses Hebraiques” Op.13 by Alexander Krein, which utilizes the Clarinet to infuse lush romantic music with Klezmer flavor.

Featuring Claire Bourg and Masha Polishchuk (violins), Anat Malkin (viola), Andrew Janss (cello), and Alec Manasse (clarinet).
Audience members are invited to join us for a meet and greet with the artists following the concert. taken in Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan by @cellojanss

Esa-Pekka Salonen - Nyx —— I was introduced to this piece through a recent audition. I thought this moment was particularly touching(and tricky!), and worth a share.

I want to share with friends some of the reciprocal notes of love and appreciation that have been coming in from frontline workers in response to Yo-Yo Ma’s two virtual musical offerings this last Wednesday. In two 45-minute sessions, he listened, processed, and connected through both words and music with a small number of the people who have been risking their lives to keep us all safe. It was, even over Zoom, one of the most beautiful uses of the arts I’ve ever gotten to witness.

Scroll through to read some of the responses. taken in University of Colorado Anschutz by @cellojanss
