POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another fun night at @urbansouth_nola with great music and beer pairings! We love this annual tradition with one of our original partners, and one of the best parts is being able to interact with all our audience members in this setting!

Next up tonight is @markdovermusic at @lsunolasota with an exciting program of classical and jazz. You won’t want to miss it!

The New York Times has hailed cellist Andrew Janss ( @cellojanss ) for his “glowing tone,” “insightful musicianship,” and “sumptuous elegance.” Mr. Janss began his career as the founding cellist of the Escher Quartet, winning the CMS Two residency at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Since then, he has performed and recorded alongside legendary Classical artists including Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode, and Itzhak Perlman, as well as chart-topping artists Norah Jones, Paul McCartney, Lana Del Rey, and Bruce Springsteen.

We are excited to welcome Andrew back to New Orleans for CCCMF's 11th Season, where he will be performing on October 15, 16, 18, and 20! We asked him to tell us a little bit about himself with a few questions:

🎵 What about being in New Orleans this October are you most looking forward to?

"The FOOOOOOOOD! And every visit we try to do the dirty dance down Bourbon Street ending all the way down at Frenchmen...the bands down there always mindblowingly awesome."

✨️ What's a fun fact about you that we wouldn't know by reading your bio?

"I have a full 3D printing prototyping and assembly studio in my apartment for Arcotype Bows (@arcotypebows ) in NYC, complete with many kilograms of raw Mongolian stallion hair. It started out when I allocated half of my main bedroom to the venture, but then it kept expanding and eventually kicked me out of my own bedroom, and ultimately spilled out and took over the hallway closets as well. I've managed to contain it to there, and still have a place to sleep at night... but if the business keeps growing, I might be calling whoever's reading this to rent a room."

🎶 Name a non-Classical artist or band whose music you enjoy listening to, and tell us why!

"Anderson .Paak... The sound and energy of his music reminds me of where I grew up in Ventura Country, CA, even though we could not have had more different childhoods. (re the period in his name: "The dot stands for 'detail' — always be paying attention to detail.""

#BTS: Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful “studio” to make music with Andrew Janss @cellojanss, who brought two of my piano compositions to life a little while back with his beautiful cello accompaniments. 🎹🎻

Felt like a masterclass for me! As you can tell, I was thoroughly enjoying the process ☺️

A special thank you to @merrittlutz for letting us rehearse in his home (even when we went long and his guests arrived)!

First video: Remember to Fly
Others: Echoes of Persia

For anyone interested, the full piano pieces are on YouTube and various music platforms.

The dog days of summer were packed to the brim, and now back in NYC with some early fall weather, I'm taking a moment to appreciate the last month and a half.

From the gorgeous views of the Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, and Idyllwild, a deeply meaningful wedding weekend between two of my closest friends, one inspiring performance after another, and lots of quality time with my wonderful wife (even including a quick jaunt to Vegas in between things!), it's been a whirlwind I will not forget.

Now, time to put on long sleeves and get back to work!

🎶 Chausson’s “Concert for Violin, Piano and String Quartet” 🌊 A couple days later, I’m still thinking about this piece’s innovation, harmonies, colors, and emotional breadth. What an amazing group of musicians to have collaborated with for my first experience in this role! Spoiled. Thank you @mikcat_piano @isabelleaiviolin @rubenrengelviolin @lukewfleming @cellojanss @manhattanchamberplayers and @gretna_music ! 👊🏻

This week so far! Opening Night at Caramoor with the incredible Kelli O’Hara and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s (and Gala cake 😋); a beautiful concert at NJPAC by Max Richter and ACME during their North American tour; and the New York premiere of Lisa Bielawa’s astounding PULSE violin concerto for Tessa Lark performed by The Knights in Central Park for Naumburg Orchestral Concerts! ✨💫
