Ubele in Focus: What You Don’t Always See.

For Sickle Cell Awareness Month, we spent time with @sharonbpeter Programme Coordinator at Ubele, to hear more about what it’s like to live and work with sickle cell — and the work she’s doing to create greater awareness beyond Ubele.

Over the weekend, we joined Sharon at an event hosted through her organisation @cellsofageneration where she screened her documentary exploring experiences of sickle cell and shared her comics @coagcomics

After the screening, we sat down with Sharon to talk about navigating her role at Ubele, running her own organisation, and using her experiences to create spaces where people living with sickle cell can feel seen, heard and supported.

Sharon also shared what she wishes more people understood about living and working with sickle cell:

“The effort it takes to show up can be invisible.”

✨ This September, we’re working on our nutrition!

For Sickle Cell Awareness Month, @CellBasedNutrition and @coagcomics are coming together to bring you Liberation, Cell by Cell: A comprehensive month-long Chronic Pain & Fatigue Nutrition Programme.

Throughout September, we’ll be hosting a series of FREE Sunday workshops at Enfield Town Library, created for people living with sickle cell, chronic pain and fatigue, as well as family members, carers and anyone who wants to learn more.

Expect practical tools, culturally relevant conversations, healthy refreshments, take-home resources and a supportive space to learn together.
Sickle Cell Awareness Month isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about giving our community the knowledge and tools to take action.

We went for an event “Understanding Sickle Cell – Research, Care, and Community Voices” at Brixton and it was an eye-opening session.

Now we have an idea of Sickle Cell Research done in the past and we’re hopeful to see some more work done in the future. 🤞

It’s always a pleasure working & collaborating with @coagcomics @cellsofageneration

Be Their Lifeline: Support Sickle Cell Treatment & Join Us for a Powerful Evening

For years, the Beulah Sickle Cell Health Clinic has provided free Hydroxyurea to sickle cell patients, reducing painful crises and complications. However, economic challenges have threaten this crucial support.

We need to raise ₦3,795,000 (£1,988.85) to supply Hydroxyurea for 300 patients for three months. Every donation makes a difference.

Throwing it back to the amazing success of the 5th Annual Camp & Skill Acquisition Training, organised by the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, and the overwhelming support during the Blood Drive led by Barr. Stella Peter-Inyang, Trustee of Cells of a Generation Initiative, in partnership with the @haima_health

This event was a powerful testament to the strength of our community and the generosity of all who participated. Each blood donor played a vital role in saving lives and showing what it means to live with compassion and purpose.

* A highly successful Blood Drive for the +17 teens to give back in meaningful ways.
