Just getting around to posting what went down in September. 🤗 Travelled back to the UK on the 1st of September with my people @british_airways and was admitted the next day and was there for a week. Apart from that, the other 2 major highlights were: 1. Sickle Cell Awareness Month 2. Seeing my friend @omololaalfred_ for the first time in 4-5 years. 💃 Every other thing was either preparing & posting content on sickle cell awareness, prepping for the panel session with @sicklefes attending other sickle cell related events, like the one with @cellbasednutrition & @coagcomics and finally getting ready for the TEDx Stage!!! 👌 @tedxbromley All in all, we’re still pushing and just because September is over doesn’t mean that sickle cell awareness will stop. 📌 Wishing you all the best this October. ✌️ What was the highlight of your September? 🤔 Let’s gist in the comments!!! 👇 #chinexigho #travelchronicleswithchinex #septemberdump2026 #sicklecellawarenessmonth2026 #goodgod Meanwhile this song by @greatmantakit & @obareengy has been on repeat for weeks now. 👌

Today is the fourth and final Liberation, Cell by Cell session at Enfield Town Library. We’re closing the month by talking about something that affects so many people living with chronic illness and disability: stress, inflammation, pain and fatigue. We’ll be exploring: How stress can affect inflammation, pain and energy How naturopathic approaches can support the body and help reduce pain and fatigue Practical ways to create better conditions for your body to function How to advocate for yourself when you are living with a disability or chronic illness How to communicate what you need when you are not being heard, believed or taken seriously Sunday 27th September 1pm to 3pm Enfield Town Library Free to attend, with refreshments and practical resources to take home. You do not need a diagnosis to come. You do not need to have attended the previous sessions either. Come as you are. Sit, rest, leave the room and come back if you need to. Listening counts too. One final Sunday. One more conversation about living better in a body that needs more care. #LiberationCellByCell #SickleCellAwarenessMonth #ChronicIllness #ChronicPain #Enfield

Ubele in Focus: What You Don’t Always See. For Sickle Cell Awareness Month, we spent time with @sharonbpeter Programme Coordinator at Ubele, to hear more about what it’s like to live and work with sickle cell — and the work she’s doing to create greater awareness beyond Ubele. Over the weekend, we joined Sharon at an event hosted through her organisation @cellsofageneration where she screened her documentary exploring experiences of sickle cell and shared her comics @coagcomics After the screening, we sat down with Sharon to talk about navigating her role at Ubele, running her own organisation, and using her experiences to create spaces where people living with sickle cell can feel seen, heard and supported. Sharon also shared what she wishes more people understood about living and working with sickle cell: “The effort it takes to show up can be invisible.” This is her story, in her words 💜 #UbeleInFocus #SickleCellAwarenessMonth #SickleCellAwareness #TheUbeleInitiative SelfSovereignRegeneration

Someone living with Sickle Cell Disorder needs blood that matches theirs. There's a real chance it's yours. 🩸 The Ro blood subtype many sickle cell patients rely on is far more common in donors of African and Caribbean heritage. Yet myths are keeping our community out of the donor chair. Let's clear them up. YES, you can give blood if you have sickle cell trait. And having roots in West Africa doesn't automatically rule you out (we'll unpack the malaria antibody question too). 📍 SAT 19th SEPT · 5pm · Dugdale Arts Centre Screening of The Lifeline Conversations, then a panel and Q&A. The blood bank team will be on site so you can register as a donor on the spot. Bring one willing donor. Someone is waiting for blood like yours. 📍 SUN 20th SEPT · Build Blood · Enfield Town Library · 1pm-3pm Been turned away for low iron? A deferral is a delay, not a dead end. Learn ferritin vs haemoglobin, build an iron plan around the foods you already eat, and leave with a 12-week donor-ready pathway. Know your status. Be the match. Bring someone who can give. 👉 Save your place: Link in comments Tag the person you're bringing 👇 #SickleCellAwarenessMonth #GiveBlood #BloodDonation #BlackDonors #Enfield

This is a BIG weekend for us at @coagcomics and @cellbasednutrition ! ❤️🩸 We’ve spent September learning, asking questions and having honest conversations about sickle cell, our bodies and our health. This weekend, we’re bringing it all together with TWO events. 🩸 SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER - IT’S IN OUR BLOOD Join us at Dugdale Arts Centre for a special screening of The Lifeline Conversations, followed by conversation, Q&A and a deeper look at blood donation - including why ethnically matched blood matters for people living with sickle cell and some of the myths that can stop people from donating. 🥗 SUNDAY 20 SEPTEMBER - BUILD BLOOD Then we’re back at Enfield Town Library @cellbasednutrition to talk about anaemia, iron, haemoglobin and nutrition. We’ll take a special look at why people can be deferred from donating blood because of low haemoglobin and practical ways to build and support healthy iron levels. Whether you live with sickle cell, love someone who does, want to become a blood donor or simply want to learn more - you are welcome. Come for the information. Come with your questions. Come ready to learn and take action. ❤️ 🎟️ Both events are FREE. They pricked your finger and said, “Not today.” Being turned away from giving blood can feel disappointing, especially when you turned up wanting to help someone else. But that haemoglobin check is there to protect you too. And being turned away once doesn’t necessarily mean you can never donate. It’s a snapshot of what was happening in your body that day. For women, particularly those living with heavy periods or fibroids, low iron and low haemoglobin are worth investigating properly. Because the bigger question isn’t only: “Why couldn’t I give blood?” It’s also: “Why was my haemoglobin low in the first place?” Fatigue. Breathlessness. Brain fog. Hair loss. Feeling completely wiped out. These things deserve attention in their own right. This September, we’re talking about iron, anaemia, nutrition, blood donation and fatigue as part of Liberation, Cell by Cell. 📍 Enfield Town Library 🗓️ Sundays throughout September ⏰ 1pm to 3pm 🎟️ FREE Come for yourself first. Then, if you want to donate in the future, you can understand what your body needs to get there safely. Comment SEPTEMBER and I’ll send you the details. #IronDeficiency #Anaemia #WomensHealth #Fatigue #BloodDonation GiveBlood Nutrition Enfield

Week two of Liberation, Cell by Cell complete! ❤️ Another wonderful afternoon at Enfield Town Library today. Great conversations, thoughtful questions and a room full of people willing to learn more about their bodies, their health and what it means to live well with pain, fatigue and sickle cell. Thank you to everyone who came, contributed, asked questions and shared their experiences. These are exactly the conversations I wanted this September to create. And we’re not finished yet. Next weekend is a big one. Saturday 19th September, 5pm Dugdale Arts Centre Join us for a viewing of The Lifeline Conversations, a documentary by Cells of a Generation CIC, opening up important conversations around blood donation and the need for more Black and Brown donors. Then on Sunday 20th September, we’re back at Enfield Town Library from 1pm for the third edition of Liberation, Cell by Cell. This session is all about donor readiness, iron and anaemia. We’ll unpack what iron actually does, why anaemia is not always simply an iron problem, and what you need to know before giving blood. Both events are free. Come and learn. Come with your questions. Come and be part of the conversation. #SickleCellAwarenessMonth #SickleCellDisorder #BloodDonation #IronDeficiency #Enfield
