𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐒 - "𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞" (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦) Finally! After presenting their video last week, we've now had the chance to listen to the brand-new Retail Simps album on @totalpunk45s in its entirety. And what a fucking record! I've made my devotion to these guys clear plenty of times already, and I know most of you feel the same way. As for those of you who still haven't fallen for them, don't worry. We'll keep going on and on about these guys, hammering away until you finally realize that this is one of those bands that can change your life. Yes, believe it! It's happening. Right now, in 2026. And what they play is Rock'n'Roll. And I can assure you they're not virtuosos. They're rather atrocious! What's their secret? Hard to say... Although, now that I think about it (and I tend to overthink everything), maybe the secret is right there in the two words that make up the title of their new album: "Real Simple." I don't know. The truth is, I don't give a shit why I love these guys so much. I just know I love them more and more, and that the cover photo reminds me of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd waiting by the prison wall for someone to pick them up... THE BAND, ELWOOD! THE BAAAAAND!!! In just over a week, RETAIL SIMPS from Montreal are playing at Råhuset, and we should feel lucky about it. Few bands around today bring the dirtiest and freshest rock and roll like they do, and their three LPs on one of the best current labels, Total Punk, are proof. Please, do yourself a favor, go to the internet and check their latest record “Real Simple”. Can’t fucking think of anything better, brilliant from top to bottom. Anyway, we asked them some questions for our “Know the Band” thing. Thanks Joe and Obe for taking the time to answer.

Ok, “shit is getting real” as they say on TV. Due to the inexorable onwards march of time, this event is now only two weeks away!!! Maybe you have been procrastinating about getting tickets? Maybe you were planning to wash your hair or go eat some fancy food or build a scale model of the Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks that night? Either way, I feel quite strongly that you need to ‘fully commit’ to the Simps and just bash that ‘buy ticket’ button. This is still not the final poster btw - they are up on the walls of New River Studios right now - but here is another one of my late night glue stick rejects. I did remember to put the actual date on this version, but the ‘mise-en-scene’ is way too crowded, what was I thinking? Girl at Bad Brains show is totally swamped by random hands and shadows and blocks of barely readable typography. I should have gone to art school rather than working nights in a call centre, though imagine how much more shit my poster designs would be if I’d have done that? Anyway, once again I am solipsistically (expensive word especially for Hanne) making this all about ME again, when it is all about THEE RETAIL SIMPS, who will be touring their brand new album, hot off the presses of Total Punk Records, called REAL SIMPLE. Band is flying in off the back of a load of North American shows, so they will no doubt be on top form. Also playing in many regional cities of the rotting kingdom, and back in cursed capital for Sunday matinee show 1 Nov, but the NRS show is FRYDAY NITE, and also has THE WEIRD WEATHER UNDERGROUND and VIRVON VARVON on the bill, plus a dance party in the bar afterwards from those dub loving goofs at the General Echo Reggae Disco. I never thought this day would come much less that I would be excited about it, but a year ago I cut the chord on music streaming services and started buying CDs again. It’s been really fun buying CDs for the car and have found that more and more people are returning to the format. Well we are trying something new and decided to kick it off by pressing the Simps debut and their newest 12” to CD. They are at the plant now and will be in my hands by the end of the month. Limited to 100 copies and housed in a digipack. Up on the site and Bandcamp now. by @celluloidlunchrecords
