Happy Halloween. #Deadmonton 2025 was a blast. Not for the faint of heart. Maybe next year, I can go to a haunted house in another city like previous years. by @cembergal

I don't use groundhogs to determine the end of winter. I think it should be determined by a giant wooden statue at a winter festival that is set afire.

This year's wooden statue at the Silver Skate was a giant raven, which burned amazingly beautiful. Such a nice break in winter. taken in Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park by @cembergal

So I just checked something off my bucket list. I went to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Did I have fun? Well, I did eight of the nine haunted houses, and didn't do the ladt because the line was almost an hour long. I interacted with all the dress up actors that came up to me including the undead Mexican wrestlers. Maybe it was the full moon, but I kept laughing.

I especially love the picture of the full moon over Hogwats Castle. What an evening. taken in Universal Studios Hollywood by @cembergal

Yesterday was a Reykjavík day. It was the warmest day out of the entire trip. Some of the pictures were from my first day of travel but I was so exhausted that I didn't have the energy to post.

On the first day, I went into Hallgrímskirkja, the largest church in the city. Although it looks old, it was finished in the 1980's. When I went into the church, I sat down for a while and by luck, two organisms started playing. I assume practicing for a Sunday service. I have never heard pipe organs played live. Quite beautiful.

Iceland loves the arts. There are a lot of bookstores. The evening prior, I was walking the main drag and walked by clubs playing folk music, bars playing dance music, a karaoke bar where singers were loudly singing pop music, and a heavy metal party going on a some person's second story apartment.

Definitely a beautiful, safe, and fun city. taken in Iceland by @cembergal

Highlights from the Snæfellsnes Penninsula.

It was a windy day. The picture with the waves shows how windy it was. It blew the water up during the crescent of the wave, creating beautiful little rainbows. In fact, I have seen three rainbows on my trip.

The giant statue after the churches is the Bardur Statue, protector of the pennisula.

The last pictures look like they were used in the Game of Thrones. I was told that wasn't the case but areas close to this with similar landscape were used in the shooting of the show.

Overall, this was a long day but worthwhile to take as a tour, because there were tonnes of little stops. taken in Snæfellsnes Penninsula by @cembergal

Yesterday, it was a waterfall day. It started off with a visit to Black Beach. Apparently the waves can be quite dangerous because a moments notice, one can pull you into the freezing water.

Then it was off to waterfall after waterfall. These are all around the Golden Penninsula. It has become a lot more touristy and busy. I can't imagine what it will be like in June or July.

One of the highlights was being able to get behind a waterfall. The colours are now starting to go from a lot of grey and white to green. So amazing by @cembergal

So, another amazing day. I did a hiking tour on a glacier. Amazing view. #onceinalifetime The
Sólheimajökull Glacier was beautiful and I was able to fill my bottle with clean glacier water.

Before that we went to Diamond Beach. It is known that because huge chunks of ice wash up on the black soil, looking like large diamonds on a black background.

The day ended with a rainbow.Nuff said. by @cembergal

So, this is a bit of a delay in posting. On Saturday I arrived in to Reykjavík but was too exhausted to take many pictures. Luckily I have a few days at the end of the trip to post. On Sunday, I got food poisoning, so that wasn't fun.

Here are a few photos from the second day of travel . We stopped off at the Godafoss waterfall and tried to avoid the tourists coming from Akuryi. As you can see there was still snow on the ground. Then we traveled and hiked in the Dimmuborgir area. The rock formations were made by lava hardening when coming into contact with Lake Myvatn. They shot part of Game of Thrones here , specifically North of the Wall.

Then it was off to to the Sulfer pits. Fascinating place, but smelly.

The trip did start off with an offering to the elves for a good trip. The tour guy took three volunteers to an area and then hid chocolate and candies ( no licorice) in a field. If the elves are happy, they will bless us with a good trip. 🤞 by @cembergal

I have been traveling to Elk Island National Park, hoping to get a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. Tonight, I got an alert on my phone, and I traveled all the way to my balcony to get the best glimpse I have gotten so far. by @cembergal

A bit cloudy but this allowed me to take this photo without filters. When it went completely dark, people went nuts. The only light was from street lights, weird. taken in Niagara Falls, Ontario by @cembergal

Merry Christmas. This is the first time that I can remember that I have seen a green Christmas. On the positive side, I took a walk down Candy Cane Lane. It is a street that is lit up with Christmas lights in support of the local food bank. Last year, the sidewalks were icy but this year, dry as a bone. I was able to get some photos without people in them, but trust me, it was busy. taken in Candy Cane Lane by @cembergal
