New project reveal 💫

When the client asks for Scandinavian simplicity mixed with an old-world European aesthetic, you deliver. This home not only has a mix of styles, but also a gorgeous blend of colors - moody blues and grays, olives, tan, and even a deep forest green and burgundy. An oak curved island, our largest range hood to date, French antiques, curated art, and strategic wallpaper moments.

This home and client collaboration was a dream to work on and this is just the beginning.

Au Revoir Paris! I’m off to London for a few days of designer events and sourcing.

The last four days were a whirlwind. Meeting with talented designers, touring showrooms, showing off our wallpaper collection and gathering inspiration at every turn!

My favorite thing about Parisian design is that they embrace imperfection and lean into passion. I like to say there are design principles, but no rules! History and rule breaking make for great design IMO. C’est vrai! 💋 taken in Paris, France by @centeredbydesign

*SAVE this post to reference my 5 tips for creating a Whole Home Color Story*

The key to our Lincoln Park renovation is a cohesive home color palette. Here’s how to create your own:

1. Find an anchor. Start with a rug, tile, or art piece you love.
2. Branch out. Use your anchor for inspiration, but add complementary shades to create depth.
3. Be bold. Don’t play it too safe!
4. Look beyond walls. Treat floors, cabinets, and hardware as part of your palette.
5. Create flow. Repeat colors throughout the house for a cohesive feel.

“It’s like camp for design-loving adults,” says designer Marcus Mohon, of Mohon Interiors (@mohoninteriors), who has been shopping Round Top since the ’90s.

With Round Top (@visitroundtop) just around the corner, we asked Mohon and designer Claire Staszak, (@centeredbydesign) of Centered by Design, to share the insider tips—from where to shop first and what to wear to how to negotiate, where to eat, and the easiest way to get your treasures home.

Head to the link in bio for everything you need to shop Round Top like a designer!

From back to school, to weekend travels, team members having babies and getting married — September may have been the busiest month of the year!

I survived and (actually) thrived?! Not pictured: working until 2am and the extra chocolate relied on to make it through. 🍫 ♥️ taken in Centered by Design by @centeredbydesign

This bedroom belongs to an 1800s limestone Italianate row house in Lincoln Park.

In need of more space, the second floor library was transformed into a primary suite. Swipe to the end to take in the full transformation.

Mirrored Backsplashes - A timeless favorite in our portfolio.

“When you are tight on space, mirrors help trick the eye by reflecting the room itself. It creates a sense of more depth and brings additional light into areas that might otherwise feel dark or enclosed” - @centeredbydesign

The cooler temps this week in Chicago have me looking at some of our projects rich in jewel tones.

Pictured in Lincoln Park is the living room from our 19th-century, pre-war townhouse restoration. I can’t get over how remarkable some of the original features are! We were able to save or restore the staircase, fireplace, French doors and moldings.

Let’s talk about how our spaces actually come together in our new series on interior styling micro-topics!

SHELF STYLING ~ My biggest note of encouragement? Just start somewhere! Add a plant today, or rearrange what you already have in a fresh way. Taking small steps in real life is so much better than saving this post and forgetting about it.

Styling is a muscle. You wouldn’t expect to play the piano without practice, and the art of “seeing” design works the exact same way. I’m here to share a few practical ways to help you sharpen that skill!

Have a topic you want to talk about? Let me know below
