“It’s like camp for design-loving adults,” says designer Marcus Mohon, of Mohon Interiors (@mohoninteriors), who has been shopping Round Top since the ’90s.

With Round Top (@visitroundtop) just around the corner, we asked Mohon and designer Claire Staszak, (@centeredbydesign) of Centered by Design, to share the insider tips—from where to shop first and what to wear to how to negotiate, where to eat, and the easiest way to get your treasures home.

If this isn’t proof that a blue living room can feel cosy and warm, I’m not sure what is. 💙

Currently working on a whole house scheme for a client & luckily she loves blue. Blue often gets dismissed as a cold colour, but I think these rooms are the perfect proof that this is not always the case.

The secret is what you put around it: warm woods, tobacco and rust tones, antique brass, natural fibres, warm neutrals, books, art and plenty of texture.

When was the last time you cleaned the vent behind your dryer? It might not sound like the most glamorous chore, but it’s very important.

The national park services estimates over 15,000 fires in the US are caused by dryers every year. The could be caused by a build up of lint, a clogged vent or improper ventilation. It’s easy to think that could never happen to you, but 10 minutes of cleaning could make all the difference.

If you’d rather not reach in there and pull years of built up lint and dust, we’ll happily do it for you if it means keeping your family a little safer, your home’s air quality a little cleaner, and your peace of mind a little more intact.

Stripes, in all their elegance. ✨

In this Chicago home, the Grand Lac stripe gently defines the space and elegantly highlights the interplay between colors and textures.

This design is part of Mediterranean Reverie, our wallpaper collection created in collaboration with designer @centeredbydesign, inspired by Mediterranean light, landscapes, and the art of living.

A stunning project to discover in the Summer “Kitchens” issue of @housebeautiful.

Not every bathroom project needs to reinvent the wheel.

The original layout here positioned the tub beneath a window, but a few details limited exactly how much the homeowners could really use the tub.

For more maneuverability:
- Swapped out a built-in tub for a stand-alone one

For more accessibility:
- Added a free-standing tub filler and shower wand

For more air flow:
- Replaced the picture window with a double casement window

For a repositioned focal point:
- Removed sconces in favor of a pendant light

To support natural mildew resistance:
- Applied Venetian plaster on the walls which is an anti-microbial material

Remodeling and renovating should prioritize changes that matter to you, whatever that may look like.

Details / one of the main goals of this renovation was to bring back details of the original architecture. The marble fireplace surround was restored back to this place of prominence m while trim was reproduced to match the original. Plaster crown molding and a ceiling medallion create the perfect finishing touch.
