We’re celebrating an important milestone achieved within our cost-of-living programme!

Since April 2025 we have made available a full time Welfare Rights and Debt Advisor within our centre as part of our efforts to support people through the ongoing cost of living crisis. Our advisor can provide people with advice and support around increasing their income and managing debt.

We are thrilled to announce that since this service began over half a million pounds in financial gains have been achieved for our service users - £504,156.48 to be precise. by @centresouthside

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the premiere screening of Solaris Mon Amour @solarismonamour and the Q&A with director Kuba Mikurda @kubamikurda held yesterday at Southside Community Centre in Edinburgh @centresouthside. The conversation offered a rich reflection on the archival legacy of the Łódź Educational Film Studio @wytworniafilmowoswiatowych, as well as the distinct artistic contributions of Laura Pawela whose visual compositions shaped its meditative rhythm, and Marcin Lanarczyk, responsible for the sound design.

Kuba, thank you for your time and for the insights that beautifully enriched the screening!

This event was supported by Film Hub Scotland @filmhubscotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, and funded by Screen Scotland, National Lottery funding from the BFI, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh. Presented as part of the Beetroots Collective.

Well done and thank you to the kids from Preston Street Primary School who have made Nicolson Street a nicer place!

Their art work replaces graffiti and fly posting on an air quality monitoring box which sits near our community centre. taken in Nicolson Street by @centresouthside
