A few more scenes from Son of a Art Teacher: The family I couldn’t have done it without, friends who make me feel so supported, birthday cake to mark the latest trip around the sun I’ve been too busy to reflect on, and some things you can take home with you.

This week we’ve got Family Craft Night on Thursday. My mom (the Art Teacher! Will be leading a tissue paper stained glass craft) and I will have some activities to make globes. Family friends and ALL ages welcome. It is also crazy that I’m already promoting the Closing Reception, but it’s called Cincinnati Art Week for a reason.

Also available at the gallery: Ohio Projections, a strange little book/object made with Eric Blyth of Cereal Box Studio — 15 risograph postcards, each using a different projection of Ohio from the show. There are also Ohio Projections sticker packs, prints of Hell is Real, and a silent auction for 24 composite prints displayed in the gallery. Grab these artifacts from the show before they’re gone!

And, importantly: if you’re downtown for BLINK, come see the show and use our bathroom. I made a custom wallpaper and did some things with the lighting that probably took more effort than a gallery bathroom deserved. We’ll be open until 7 but may extend hours, so stay tuned.

Books are back in stock. 💫
The first batch sold out quickly. Limited copies are now available.
Available now via the link in bio.

This is a handcrafted limited run released in small waves, and this first group of copies is expected to move quickly.

Created alongside my solo exhibition “Chapter 4: In Another Lifetime” at the @cincycac , this artist publication serves as the conceptual foundation for the exhibition and the broader multidisciplinary body of work surrounding the project.

This book is the result of a beautiful collaboration between @gee_horton and @cereal.box.studio - Each copy is carefully handcrafted, designed, and produced with intention and care. More than a book, it’s truly a work of art connected to the larger story of the exhibition.

Special thanks to our supporters and partners who helped make this publication possible: @themercantilelib @black.art.speaks @laurenhannan.shafer

Very excited to announce that our newest comic book release, Jr., is now available for pre-sale on our website! Written by Anthony Perillo (@laboroflovephl), and illustrated by Jay McQuirns (@jaymcquirns) and Mark Neeley (@markaneeley), with story and lettering support from Cat Park (@catpark). This 45-page hand-drawn comic is about the son of Sam "Sully" Sullivan, the world's most beloved baseball player. When he is drafted by his father's home team, he isn't just joining a roster; he's stepping into a shadow. Beyond the diamond lies a game fraught with injustice and the hollow echoes of fame.

.
The release party is being held at @partnersandson bookshop in Philadelphia on Friday, April 17, hosted by cartoonist Brian "Box" Brown!

Wow what a cool experience co-leading A Community Agreement workshop with Eric Von Haynes @manny_suena (Chicago printmaker, @flatlands_press and president of @chicagoprintersguild) // day one at the DAAP print lab and day two at the studio // everyone absolutely understood the mission and brought so much life into the space // much thanks to @trc_uc and @petitsandwich for organizing // and to Nana for being the world's best studio assistant // We were not expecting to end up with a zine but sometimes that's just what happens! It also felt like an opportunity to encapsulate some of the language and readings that were used to set the stage for a shared vision of the event // I learned so much and am feeling re-inspired 🌞⭐✨⚡ by @cereal.box.studio

Interwoven Spaces:
Time, Pattern, and Care–Day 2
a two-day community printing workshop
with Eric Von Haynes and Julia Warner
Saturday, February 28, 10am–1:30pm
Cereal Box, 1645 Blue Rock Street
Studio 406, Northside

Free & open to the public.
Lunch provided.
Register for each day at
taft-uc.trumba.com

In this two-day workshop, drawing from readings such as “Three Key Elements of Mutual Aid,” participants will interpret a shared space and collaboratively build a layered artwork that embodies a collective agreement and shared purpose. Participants will use patterns, collage, text, and visual marks to create a collaborative wall reflecting Community Care and Collective Power. Each participant will produce a 10×10-inch segment that contributes to a unified grid, collectively forming a wall-scale composition. This workshop emphasizes process as much as outcome, encouraging experimentation, iteration, and collaborative response.

Day One focuses on developing and refining designs, while Day Two is dedicated to printing, overprinting, and assembling the final collaborative wall display. Space is limited and registration required. All materials provided.

Eric Von Haynes is a printmaker, designer, and publisher. He founded Flatlands Press in 2007 and directs a community-focused practice that includes experimental printmaking, artist books, and mutual aid initiatives.

Julia Warner is Creative Director at Cereal Box, specializing in book design and small-edition publishing.

This workshop is part of "Mind the Gap: Sound, Image, Print, and Collective Methods for Writing Otherwise," a three-part series organized by Taft Postdoctoral Fellow Alexandra Dantzer that brings together scholars, artists, makers, and publishers to contemplate what it means to work through archival and institutional gaps and how to do it collaboratively. Embracing the unsaid, unmade, and undone, the series frames the “gap” as a productive opening and collaboration as a worldmaking mode of working with and for one another. by @cereal.box.studio
