A few more scenes from Son of a Art Teacher: The family I couldn’t have done it without, friends who make me feel so supported, birthday cake to mark the latest trip around the sun I’ve been too busy to reflect on, and some things you can take home with you.

This week we’ve got Family Craft Night on Thursday. My mom (the Art Teacher! Will be leading a tissue paper stained glass craft) and I will have some activities to make globes. Family friends and ALL ages welcome. It is also crazy that I’m already promoting the Closing Reception, but it’s called Cincinnati Art Week for a reason.

Also available at the gallery: Ohio Projections, a strange little book/object made with Eric Blyth of Cereal Box Studio — 15 risograph postcards, each using a different projection of Ohio from the show. There are also Ohio Projections sticker packs, prints of Hell is Real, and a silent auction for 24 composite prints displayed in the gallery. Grab these artifacts from the show before they’re gone!

And, importantly: if you’re downtown for BLINK, come see the show and use our bathroom. I made a custom wallpaper and did some things with the lighting that probably took more effort than a gallery bathroom deserved. We’ll be open until 7 but may extend hours, so stay tuned.

I’ve spent a lot of time making, remaking, cutting, ripping, pasting, printing, projecting, stretching, pinning, and generally thinking way too hard about Ohio.

Now I would very much like to see some people.

Please join me for the opening reception of Son of a Art Teacher, presented as part of the inaugural Cincinnati Art Week.

The exhibition brings together new work about place, memory, family, geography, childhood, and the strange elasticity of where we come from. I’m especially happy to be sharing the exhibition with work by Karen Saunders and Kim Wiederhold, along with collaborative work with Eric Blyth, Kirsten Brademeyer, Greta Brademeyer-Wiederhold, and an installation made with students from Gamble Montessori Elementary School.

Opening Reception
October 3, 2026, 4-7
1623 Race Street
Over-the-Rhine

Come see the work, have a drink, wander around, argue about maps, tell me your Ohio stories, and celebrate the beginning of Cincinnati Art Week.

Also, in a completely unrelated and definitely not strategically convenient coincidence, the opening is two days after my birthday.

So yes. This is also my birthday party. 🎂

A special shout out to @cereal.box.studio for their contributions to talk low by designing and printing our posters and festival passes. Cereal Box operates a design and riso studio out of Northside and have been invaluable partners in helping us find a strong visual identity for this years fest

Yay @blackforager! So fun to see her speak in town and have a chance to pass along a copy of Flora’s Daughters, a project that has been such a lovely combination of efforts from @juliaobianco and @cereal.box.studio with support from @lloydlibrary. 🌱✨
