Here are two more watercolors I painted on location in New Mexico. ❤️
The first is of the beautiful red hills across from Georgia O’Keeffe’s house at Ghost Ranch. It was nearly 100 degrees that day, and my watercolors were drying almost as quickly as I could put them down! Painting in that kind of heat was definitely a challenge, but there was something so wonderful about being right there, immersed in the landscape, trying to capture its colors, light, and incredible presence.
The second painting is of a sunset over the dark mesa. I was completely captivated by the sunsets in New Mexico. Every evening seemed to bring something extraordinary, with the light and colors constantly changing across the sky and landscape. They were absolutely glorious, and I never got tired of watching them. I feel so lucky to have had this time to paint, explore, and experience the magic of this very special place. ❤️

I’ve been taking a break from social media lately, but now I’ll be doing some postings from the summer. The first one is from my time in August at an artist residency in New Mexico. These are some of the trees that I drew around Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch. What a mystical, magical place it is, with the big ever-changing sky, red rocks, mesas, and incredible desert life. These tress are Juniper trees that live for a very long time because of their deep root systems. I’ll be posting some paintings soon. #newmexicoart #drawing #inkdrawings @svamfaillustration @svanyc #dippens taken in Abiquiu, New Mexico by @cfabricatore
