Introducing Cuntface Fanny O’Rollers! A delightfully accurate anagram for Courtney Frances Fallon, Cuntface Fanny is not quite an alter ego but the wild animal within me. A spirit I embody when I am at my most outrageous. These abstract self-portraits that declare my cuntiness to the world feature images of my vagina from a photo series I created with photographer Katharine T. Jacobs in 2009. Each collage reflects different moments from my life that contributed to my growth into the cunty cunt I am today, for better and worse. These 5”x5” works are available for purchase as part of Live on Five 2026 to benefit Buffalo Arts Studio (item numbers 294-297). Really enjoying the surreal experience of watching the alternative BTS documentation... er... security footage from the City of Tonawanda's discovery files. Forgot I wore a Batman shirt for my wheatpaste spree to polling places in opposition to our dear leader Chairman Zellner. I own the fact that I am corny as fuck and see that the oh-my-creaking-back walk is not giving Bruce Wayne, but I still think I'm hilarious. *************************** The ZELL NO! legal morass continues and so does the interregnum in the Erie County Democratic Committee that echoes the larger zeitgeist! New work from a sculptural collage series inspired by the poem “Epigenetic Gall” — which I started as a participant in “Direct Message,” a beautiful project by Claire Connolly. Claire’s concept involved group meetings with free write sessions that led to three more paintings and an anthology of connected poems that is available for sale at FITZ ($20)! My poem (about the possibility of inherited grit fueling me during fascism) led to me co-art directing a related still life that became a reference for this glorious painting by Claire, where my poem is featured. You can take home beautiful color prints of the paintings, which are in the book. Thursday (tomorrow) is the last day to see these and the rest of the “Direct Message” at FITZ Books and Waffles (1462 Main St)! Come out tomorrow (Aug 13) for the closing celebration and stay for the waffles (or ice cream if that’s your jam)! ************** You can also pick up a FREE copy of The Buffalo Contrarian at FITZ! Today is the twentieth anniversary of the day I arrived in Quito, Ecuador for my first major solo backpacking trip. Ten months in South America that drastically changed the trajectory of my life — leading to two years living in Poland, plus travel to more than forty countries and about as many states in the US. I’ll spare you my musings on these travels for now but had to mark the occasion. In the months ahead I’ll be sharing photos and stories about the people, places, and things I’ve been fortunate to encounter. Stay tuned. I got arrested for art again… twice. This isn’t like my “performance vandalism” at Charging Bull in 2017. My free speech has been attacked BUT it’s backfired spectacularly. Instead of silencing me, my anti-Jeremy Zellner wheatpastes have received wide exposure and ZELL NO! is now a common refrain. TONIGHT! 7 PM! “Salon: Artalk” featuring artist Claire Connolly at FITZ Books! Claire will be discussing her social practice project “Direct Message” which has resulted in large scale paintings, a collaborative poetry anthology, and additional artwork on view at FITZ until the end of July. The talk will be followed by a conversation with the audience! (“The audience is the panel.”) I participated in “Direct Message” and it was an extremely profound experience as a writer and visual artist! Claire put out an open invite to “anyone curious about making use of their creative capacities, regardless of artistic credentials” for writing workshops that took place over six months. To start, she presented a painting of hers with an original poem and Hy Carrel of Community Canvases facilitated free-writes. Claire selected a poem from each session to feature in the next painting of the series. The corresponding paintings were informed on still life scenes that were created in collaboration with the participant poet. My poem, “Epigenetic Gall,” was written during a dark time in history – the day after Renee Renee Macklin Good was shot — in response to Dr. Steve Peraza’s poem and Claire’s painting, “Aura Loss.” I was humbled further when that work was followed by Kaitlyn Lowe’s “Indulge Me.” Collaborating with Claire on this still life was a true (for lack of a better term) artist bucket list item: I’ve long wanted to capture a subversive scene of substances! I’ve been calling this combination of steak, cold fudge sundaes, and other items my “Cornucopia of Crutches, January 2026.” I’ll tell you about the journey this poem has taken me on later! HELLO! Come to FITZ Books this Friday for a very special event: an art opening and book launch with live author readings! I will be presenting new poetry, including one that’s featured in an oil painting, and some visual art pieces thanks to the Buffalo-rooted, creative experiment “Direct Message” by Claire Connolly. Last year, Connolly put out an open invite to “anyone curious about making use of their creative capacities, regardless of artistic credentials” for writing workshops led by Hy Carrel of Community Canvases. The goal was to gather with people to explore the impact of art on the human spirit, including questions about how tech and social media impact it. Over a period of six months, a cohort met to make use of oil paintings by Connolly that include a poem on a phone screen. These paintings and poems served as an alternative, analog messaging platform. Almost as proof of Connolly’s lead concept — about the “human tendency toward creativity” — the gatherings led to an explosion of additional writing and art. The entire experience was very special and downright profound. I am delighted to have participated and cannot wait to share more details about what this work inspired me to create!) (Fun fact: Lucy filed for divorce as soon as the show was over.) It takes a lot of work to resist the normalcies of patriarchy but after decades of denial, I'm leaning into my queerness. I’m bisexual by birth but a lesbian by choice. [Actually pansexual but I like the alliteration…] I was disinterested in being queer because of the hypersexualization of bi women and also because of the perceived safety in being in proximity to men. This security is false and I am thankful that I resisted the trappings of cis straight marriage with children. Besides the fact that straight cis male partners (especially white dudes) are statistically the most dangerous for women and girls, there are also the labor inequities. I resented the realities of mental load before I knew what it was and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Sure, not all men — but might as well be for all I care. Not in my bed.
