This World Mental Health Day, we are looking back at our amazing Orange October Guildford park run.

A huge thank you to everyone who turned out in their brightest orange, laced up their trainers and ran (or walked!) not just for your own wellbeing, but to help us support disabled children and young people and their wellbeing.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised £538.60!

As we mark World Mental Health Day, we are reminded that supporting Challengers means supporting the emotional and mental health and wellbeing of the disabled children and young people we work with. Inclusive play isn’t just fun, it’s vital for confidence, friendships and feeling valued and belonging.

This week we celebrate our incredible Head of Service, Paul Wilson, who has given three decades of his life to transforming the lives of disabled children and young people.

Paul is the heart and soul of Challengers. He is a true champion of inclusive play and a constant source of wisdom, care and thoughtful leadership. We are so lucky to have him.

Meet Chris, our Corporate Engagement Manager, whose journey with Challengers has come full circle. 🧡

As a child, Challengers gave Chris a place to play, grow in confidence and be himself. Today, he connects businesses and supporters to help more disabled children and young people enjoy the opportunities that meant so much to him.

His story reflects why supporting people matters across Challengers - from the children in our care and their families to the staff who help make it all happen. Everyone deserves to feel valued, supported and able to grow.

🚂 Calling all train and model railway enthusiasts! 🚂

Join us for a brilliant local model railway weekend with Farnham & District MRC this coming Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October at Alderwood Leisure Centre.

A big thank-you to Farnham & District MRC for building a special charity layout that will be raffled at the show to raise funds for Challengers so we can carry on providing essential services to disabled children and young people.

⏰ Sat 10:00–17:00 | Sun 10:00–16:30

Thank you so much Ella! ⭐🧡

One of our play workers, Ella, has recently taken on the Coast 57km Ultra Challenge for Challengers!

Her amazing efforts raised £1,095 to help us support young people with disabilities in the South East! A big thanks to everyone who supported Ella, including her mum and brother who went to cheer her on!

What a brilliant morning for an ORANGE #parkrun 🧡

💡 Did you know?

Over 881, 922 children and young people in the UK have ADHD. (~ADHD UK)

Yet many still face exclusion from everyday activities. At Challengers, our families tell a different story.

94% of our parent carers rate their child’s happiness here as 8/10 or higher, and 89% say we help reduce isolation and loneliness. Because when children and young people feel safe, understood and free to be themselves, the whole family thrives.

This ADHD Awareness Month, we’re proud to be a place where all are welcome, regardless of their diagnosis or needs.

Huge shoutout to @technics_group for their fantastic Orange October initiative in support of Disability Challengers! 🧡

As a company, they are running an internal Orange Challenge where colleagues can donate £5 and upload an orange photo for a chance to win a £50 Amazon gift voucher.

Even better, Technics will match the total raised, doubling the impact of every contribution.

This brilliant company effort will help create inclusive play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people so we can continue breaking down barriers so every child can have fun, make friends and thrive.
