🧡 Whole School Autumnal Walk 🧡🍁 What a wonderful day of Adventure , Discovery and Connection at Glenesk Pre-Prep and Nursery School. 🧡🤝 As part of our Go Orange for Challengers charity day, our whole school, including our amazing two year olds, headed out for an autumnal walk to Drift Woods, just two minutes from our school. 🍁 We had the most wonderful time exploring the beautiful autumn colours, searching for every shade of orange, discovering natures treasures and enjoying the freedom of the great outdoors. From curious explorers to excited discoveries, there were so much to see, touch, wonder about and share. 🍁🪵🔍🪳🍂🍁🪵🔍🪳🍁🪵🔍🪳🍂🍁🪵🔍🪳🍂🍁 It was a beautiful reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children have the time and space to explore, connect, play, discover, be curious and make memories with their friends. 🧡🤝 We are so proud of our adventurers for embracing the spirit of the day and helping us support such a wonderful cause. Big adventures really can begin just beyond our school door. 🧡 Small steps, big hearts, great fun, curious minds and wonderful discoveries. 🧡 #gleneskpreprepandnurseryschool#ChallengersGoOrange#CharityDay#AutumnExplorers

🍌 DAY 9 - GET STRONG! 💪🏻 Getting strong doesn’t have to mean lifting weights. Although Molly does quite enjoy joining me in the gym sometimes. 😂💪🏻 For kids, building strength can look like monkey bars, climbing, hanging, pushing, pulling, carrying ridiculously large logs through the woods… and simply playing. All those ordinary bits of childhood give children opportunities to move their bodies, discover what they can do and get stronger along the way. At @gympanzeesuk , children can explore movement and build strength in ways that work for their bodies - through play, movement and having fun. 💜 Because sometimes getting stronger just looks like being a kid. 🍌 36 days. 36 pieces of childhood. 💜 Going Bananas for Gympanzees If you’d like to support our challenge, the fundraising link is in my bio. #Gympanzees #36DaysOfChildhood #InclusivePlay #SEND #DisabledChildren

Agatha Christie sent her first novel out expecting nothing. What happened next changed crime fiction forever. She was a young mum with an idea. No plan, no credentials — just a story she felt compelled to write. Gen Dearman tells Jonathan that Christie picked up a pen one day with no rhyme or reason behind it. No grand ambition. She wrote a short story. Then, later, a book. She sent it out to be published half-expecting them to ask her to use a male name. They didn't. They published it under hers. No other woman was writing detective novels at the time. Christie wasn't trying to be a trailblazer — she was just bringing what she knew about the world onto the page. That turned out to be enough to change everything. Gen also calls Christie's autobiography the best book she ever wrote. High praise from someone who has read them all. 🎥 YouTube: https://youtu.be/c266SgYxuPE 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0mffpXoR4ELOQLQqjLiKF1?si=ebd20e3fb6eb42b8 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/ep-29-agatha-christie-the-disabled-novelist-who/id1842596393?i=1000787630492 #AgathaCristie #CrimeFiction #BooksOfInstagram #WomenInHistory #Storytelling

She picked up a leather-bound book left by a stranger in a hotel reception. The sea was behind her. She was eight years old. And that was the moment Gen Dearman fell in love with Agatha Christie. Forty years later, Gen is CEO of Challengers, a charity transforming the lives of disabled children through the power of play. And the brilliant human she chose to honour? A woman who was disabled herself. Agatha Christie had dysgraphia, a learning difficulty that makes writing physically and mentally gruelling. She hand-wrote her first novel anyway. She sent it out for publication expecting them to ask for a male name on the cover. They didn't. 66 novels. 14 short story collections. A place in history as one of the best-selling fiction writers of all time. Gen also shares something quieter with Christie's legacy. Her mum, who is no longer here, used to watch Poirot with her. Now, whenever she hears that theme music, it feels like pulling on a favourite old cardigan. That's what a brilliant human does. They reach across decades, across loss, and still make you feel something.
