FORTY AND FABULOUS! 💖🫶🏼 Today, my person turned the big 4-0. In January, our friendship turns 22! That means more than half my life has been spent being loved on, influenced, and SEEN by this incredible woman. 😭 She does so much for so many people. She’s the anchor you didn’t know you needed, because she’s holding you steady before you knew that’s what to ask for. She gives endlessly. Loves fiercely. Makes the best Orange Crush you’ll ever taste. Always knows the best products / trends to try (and has already mastered them so it takes the guesswork out for you). She SEES me and knows me… every version of me… and loves me anyway. The house that built me. 🏡
Today, after 32 years 3 months and 3 weeks, 1414 Sunset Ln. no longer belongs to the Paynes. 💔
But really, it feels like it’s always belonged to me. It’s the biggest, most steady (physical) piece of who I am. My anchor, my constant, my safe place during 12 years of a nomadic existence on tour. The place I could always come home to that remained unchanged.
It feels strange to have closed the door last week knowing I was seeing her for the last time exactly as she is in this form and version of herself. She has seen me through all the versions of me.
She has held countless family get togethers, holidays, graduations, weddings, first kisses, earth-shattering heartbreak, immense joy, successful pride. Family working puzzles around the card table at every holiday. Later on, Marbles and Jokers. My sister, myself, and our friends climbing the backyard trees, staking our claim on the big rocks among the ivy, creating worlds with our imaginations. That backyard is where all the family pets have their final resting place. The driveway was for fireworks and butterfinger ice cream. My bedroom, the stage for all the famous Cousins’ Adventure Stories and sleepovers.
Now these walls will hear different bedtime stories. They’ll hold a new family’s memories. They’ll raise a new generation. And my prayer is the new family will know how magical this place is and take good care of her. I’m so thankful for the peace this home has given me. For my dad for keeping her for me all these years. For the love of the people that have come through it. For the house that built me. 😭💖🫶🏼 taken in Ada, Oklahoma by @champayneadventures

One of the sweetest parts of Dancing for Miracle was getting to share the evening with my daughter. 💖 (and her running up to me on stage after we won best dance was legit one of the best moments of my life…thank you Aunt @meowkittiekat ! 😭🫶🏼) I wasn’t even going to bring her (bc toddler and gala didn’t seem to mix 😅) and then @gerodblack encouraged me to. He said she’s gotta come and watch her mommy dance. I am so glad I listened to him!! She had a ball (and was the true star of the event) and is still talking about it weeks later! She talks about the party she got to go to and she tells everyone about “mommy and Kevin dancing”. She’ll do a little demonstration and lift her hands above her head to show people that mommy got lifted up in the air. “My mommy and Kevin do dat!” 🥹 💃🏻
Our kids see literally everything that we do. They pay attention and it shapes them. I am so thankful I got the opportunity to do this for her. She got to see that you are never too old to reignite your passion and live your dreams. She got to see what hard work, hours of rehearsal, and a lot of fundraising looks like. (One day when she’s old enough to understand, I will tell her about the good work that this foundation does.) She got to see that, even when life is tough, you give your commitments your all. But most of all, she got to see her mommy be fearless. My favorite thing about Gracie is that she is fearless… and I’m gonna do my best to lead by example so that she never loses that. 🙌🏼 💪🏼 This is all for you, Gracie girl! 💖 🫶🏼 🪩 by @champayneadventures

DFAM WAS A PERFECT 10!!! Literally. We got perfect 10s across the board from all the judges and took home our Mirrorball trophy for BEST DANCE!!!! 🏆🪩💃🏻🥰🤩🕺🏼

Saturday was one of the best nights of my entire life and I am STILL reeling!!!!! I never got to take my final bow on the Frozen stage because Covid stole that from me. Dancing for a Miracle felt like the redemption tour I had always dreamed of. It could not have gone any better. 😍

The moment at the top of our big lift, when I could barely hear our music because the entire crowd was going so crazy, will go down as one of the coolest moments of my life…equaled only by my daughter running to me on stage after we received our trophy! 😭🫶🏼🥹

Jenni asked me on stage how it compared to touring the world for Disney, and I told her it was better. Because I got to look out in the audience and see 80+ friends and family (and a sold-out crowd of 700+ people) who spent their money and gave up their time to come cheer me on and support me in this crazy endeavor. And on top of that, we raised SO much money for the kids of Oklahoma! 😭 $455,000 raised for CHF and $51,110 of that was raised by me bc of all of your generosity. ✨🫶🏼😭 ‘Thank you’ will never be enough!

This journey came during, in all actuality, a terribly difficult season of life…and ended up being exactly what I needed. (I love when God does that!) It filled my cup in ways I cannot explain. It reminded me that I NEED movement, dance, and a creative outlet in my life. It taught me I’m capable of rising to the top, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart. (Apparently I work best when the pressure is on.) And it showed me how much I still have to give. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more confident and at peace than I did that whole day. And finding myself on stage under the spotlights again felt like HOME. ✨

I am SO INCREDIBLY PROUD of what Kevin and I put out there! (Best partner, hands down!) I’m proud of my fight throughout this entire thing (1st runner up for fundraising!). And I’m so proud to be in the company of such awesome local celebrities who all absolutely CRUSHED it! What a night! What a dream! Thank you everyone! ✨🪩🏆 by @champayneadventures
