Food insecurity continues to be a concern across our communities. Through our social mission, “Cider For Good”, in which we have pledged to donate ¼ lb of our Eco-Certified apples to local food banks for every 4-pack of hard cider sold, Champlain Orchards recently donated over 18,000 pounds of our Eco-Certified apples to food banks in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey. This initiative reflects our collective dedication to nourishing our communities and our role in supporting the local food system. We would like to thank all of you for making this possible. With your support, we can make a difference.

We've still got lots of great picking (and Fall colors!) at the orchard this weekend. 🍏🍎🍁

🍎 Fall harvest continues strong with 45 varieties of apples, plus Asian pears, grapes, and raspberries (at Douglas Orchards). Don't let the cooler temps stop you from enjoying the abundant picking!
🥂 The Cider Garden remains open this weekend (with reduced hours on Saturday as daylight starts to fade). Warm up with a bowl of Adrian's scratch-made Smoky Apple Chili (with meat and vegan/without meat).
🎃 Make plans to enter our Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Pick up a pumpkin, take it home to decorate and bring it back by Friday, 10/23 (visit our Events page for more details).
🥧 The Farm Market is stocked with all of your favorite orchard treats, plus lots of pre-picked fruit, pumpkins and squash.

We've got a beautiful holiday weekend on-tap. Make plans to spend it with us! Both orchards will be open on Monday 10/12.🍁🍎

🍎There's still lots of picking left this season with 40 varieties of apples, plus Asian pears, grapes, and raspberries (at Douglas Orchards). New varieties include Pink Lady and Granny Smith.
🌭Gene's Chili Hut joins us again on Saturday from 11am-5pm, serving up classic American favorites such as hot dogs, chili dogs, burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, french fries, and more.
🥂Enjoy our award-winning hard ciders and small plates in the Cider Garden, open Saturday (12-7pm), Sunday (12-4pm) and Monday (12-4pm). Soup specials are Adrian's scratch-made Hearty Chicken and Butternut Sage.

Join us in the Cider Garden this weekend for TWO great shows! 🍎

🎶On Saturday, Liz Reedy returns from 3-6pm. Liz is a versatile musician and songwriter based in the mountains of Killington, Vermont. Known for her soulful acoustic performances, commanding vocals, and deep roots in the local music scene, Liz blends genres to create an authentic, engaging sound that resonates with audiences of all kinds.

🎶On Sunday, Bird Mountain String Band returns from 1-4pm. This bluegrass and old-time ensemble, rooted deep in the hills of Vermont, features farmer, father, and guitarist Adam Stevenson, alongside his sons Zenon and Micah and joined by their close friend Sam Merwin on bass. Together, they share a deep, genuine love for traditional music, delivering performances that feel both timeless and deeply connected to place.

Pumpkins are the classic Fall decoration and a fun way to show your style. We want to see yours! Participate in our Pumpkin Decorating Contest for a chance to win a $100 Champlain Orchards Gift Card.

How It Works:
🎃Visit the orchard and purchase your favorite pumpkin (we’ve got lots to choose from!)
🎃Take it home and decorate it any way you like: carve it, paint it --or try something different. Get creative!
🎃Bring your pumpkin back to the orchard on or before Friday, October 23th. Plan to leave it here over the weekend for judging.
🎃Pumpkins will be displayed at the Champlain Orchards Farm Market on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors to the orchard will be able to vote for their favorite pumpkin.
🎃Results will be tallied on Monday, October 26th and the winner will be announced.
🎃If you’d like to take your pumpkin back home after the contest, you can pick it up during the following week (just in time for Halloween!).

It's peak Fall foliage in Shoreham this weekend (and beautiful weather is predicted), so it's the perfect time to visit!
🍎PYO continues to be strong with 41 varieties of apples, plus Asian pears, grapes, and raspberries (at Douglas Orchards). New varieties include Evercrisp, Baldwin and Northern Spy.
🍲The Cider Garden will be open Saturday (12-7pm) and Sunday (12-4pm). This weekend's special is Adrian's scratch-made Smoky Apple Chili.
🎶Our Harvest Music Series continues on Saturday 10/3 with live music in the Cider Garden from 3 - 6pm featuring Bloodroot Gap.

Want to know how to pick the best pie apples? 🍎🍏

There’s nothing quite like a homemade apple pie in the Fall. But with so many delicious apple varieties to choose from, which ones are best to use? Adrian, our Farm Market Manager, has a few tips for selecting the perfect pie apples:
🥧 Look for a firm, crisp texture — You'll want apples that hold their shape while baking.
🍎 Find the right balance of sweet and tart — A little acidity adds brightness and keeps your pie from tasting one-note.
😋 Choose an apple you love to eat — If you enjoy it fresh, chances are you'll love it baked into a pie.
🍏 Mix it up! — Combining different varieties can add layers of flavor and texture to your pie.

Join us in the Cider Garden this Saturday from 3-6pm for live music by Bloodroot Gap. 🎶🍎

Formed after a serendipitous jam session at a Vermont bluegrass festival, Bloodroot Gap is a musical collaboration between twin brothers Rob and Jim McCuen, Freeman Corey, and Jake Munson. The band plays traditional and progressive bluegrass, relying on dynamics and interplay between the instruments to form a unique and captivating sound. The band delivers tight, energetic performances that pay homage to the greats while forging an original path of their own. Bloodroot Gap won the 2024 Podunk Bluegrass Festival band competition, both the judges’ pick and Fan Favorite award.

🦆 If you enjoy wildlife, you'll want to make plans to attend the 25th annual Dead Creek Wildlife Day in Addison on Saturday, October 3 from 9:30am - 4pm. The festival is hosted by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department.

The free activities at Dead Creek Wildlife Day are for anyone who enjoys hunting, fishing, birdwatching, or learning about Vermont’s diverse wildlife and ecosystems.

🍎 PLUS: You can enter the 1st annual apple dish contest. Bring your apple dish to the event and register at the information booth (and if you need apples for your dish, stop by the orchard to select the perfect variety!).
