Dear summer, you were great 🥹💕

- Made so many new friends at the most random occasions
- Danced on rooftops and in a trolley (thanks Jason haha)
- Food crawls and picnics 😌
- Global surgery gala in the Hamptons (international medical trip coming soon?!)
- Restarted my MA in Science and Religion
- Oysters and lobster rolls in Boston
- Said goodbye to one season, and dove headfirst into a new one.

So much to be grateful for. God is good ❤️ by @chanmijoo

2 conferences, 1 weekend, and lots of good food and networking! Boston, you were fun 😁

The craziest part? Got to re-unite with my childhood best friend who I haven't seen in 22 years! 🤯

The most spontaneous side-quest? @aryna.c.armand and I got invited to an all-expenses paid happy hour hosted by a really cool medical device company 😎

The yummiest meal? The endless lobster rolls and oysters 🤤

✨️ 1.5 months since moving to NYC ✨️

Drove across the country with my mom.
Visited somewhere I thought I'd never see again.
Reunited with friends and made new ones 💕
Started research at a world-renowned hospital.
Dancing. So much dancing! 😆
Found a church that feels like home.
Joined a ladies salsa performing team.
Also joined a women's Bible Study group 🔥
Took Step 2 and passed.
Went on multiple first dates 👀
Learned I might be more extroverted than I thought?!

My wallet is crying, but my heart and stomach are full.

God is good ☺️🩷 taken in Manhattan, New York by @chanmijoo

Dear God,
30 was so hard. It was the year where so many precious chapters came to an end. But it was also a year fill with so much joy, growth, and purpose.
Passed my first board exam, organized a national conference, and finished third year of medical school well.
Excited to spend the next year in a new city-- where I can continue learning to love the woman you're shaping me to be. Can't wait to see all the you have in store! I am in awe of how you continue to orchestrate even the smallest details of my life, and how the doors you open for me seem to have been set in motion decades earlier.

Thank you for gifting me with family and friends who root for me as well as the privilege to pursue my dreams. Thank you for your continuous patience and grace, no matter how many times I stumble or stray.

Looking forward to more of you at 31.

Love,

The vision for this conference started two years ago when I applied for our UW chapter to host the National GSSA Conference. I realized that most global medical conferences tend to focus on non-surgical specialties and the ones that do exist often don't provide students with tangible steps on how to actually get connected to mentors and organizations. So we made our own! After an initial rejection, I applied again last summer and found out we got accepted in October.

6 months of hard work later, our team successfully hosted the FIRST-EVER Global Surgery Conference at UW! We had nearly 60 in-person attendees as well as 120 virtual participants from around the world.

So many thought-provoking discussions and INCREDIBLE networking between surgeons, organizations, and students.

THANK YOU to my incredible team who juggled medical school, undergrad finals, and life to still make this conference possible!
Thank you to our incredible panelists who brought guidance to the next generation of physician-leaders.
Thank you to our workshop volunteers who taught invaluable skills to our students-- some of whom were learning them for the first time.

Not only did we pull of a FREE conference, but we ended up with a surplus of food haha.

Over and over, physicians kept saying, "This was incredibly well-done. We cannot wait to see what you guys do next year." Intially my reaction was, "What do you mean 'next time'?"
But maybe they're right.
Maybe this isn't the end... Maybe it's just the beginning... 😏 by @chanmijoo
