Thanks to everyone who has listened to and supported the new Dane Law & Chants album in the last week, the response has been amazing. And thanks to Alex for giving it such a considerate release & home (as well as mastering the record). 'Bonded Pairs' is half price for one more day on the @quietdetails_ Bandcamp, and there are still some CDs available (beautifully packaged and containing a special longform mix of the album). It's also out on streaming platforms today.

There's a two-part Q&A over on the quiet details substack if you want the gritty details on our process, link in bio.

It's hard to believe I finally get to say this, but I'm happy to announce that my collaborative album with Dane Law (@_dane_law_ ) is out today on The Trilogy Tapes (@thetrilogytapes) , a label that I’ve followed and respected for many years.

This felt like a charmed project from the beginning. It went through many phases but there was almost always a sense of ease to it, from the initial collaboration through mastering, and right now it feels like the album I'm proudest to have been a part of. It has a certain sense of mystery even for me (partly because I have no idea how Dane Law comes up with what he does, even after seeing his Max/MSP chain, ha). I’m happy not to know what came from intention vs. generation vs. improvisation on his side, and on the drum side I tried to blur the lines between what was played vs. programmed by me vs. done by DL using samples I recorded.

Massive thanks to everyone who made this record possible - Will for giving it the ideal home on The Trilogy Tapes, Stephan Mathieu for the impeccable mastering, and guest musicians Ben Ferris @bferrisbass on bass and Jeff Snyder @snyderphonics on the Electrosteel (an instrument of his own invention making its debut on record!). Also special thanks to @dibsondrums for loaning me the Canadian cymbal for ‘Bas Tab’.

Dane Law & Chants Q&A Part One - background and philosophy - awesome party yesterday! Bandcamp Friday too

Big thanks for a packed session last night friends - pure positivity and a lot of love for Bonded Pairs!

Dane Law & Chants are new to many of you, it’s always a pleasure to introduce such talented artists to the quiet details community - thanks so much for welcoming them and your wonderfully open-minded outlook on music.

The idea behind quiet details has always been to explore how diverse musicians can interpret the label’s name - genres are vague at the best of times, here it’s just artists I love, and their complete creative freedom to take the idea wherever they want.

Adam @_dane_law_ and Jordan @chantswi did an incredible job - percussion meets guitar meets digital manipulation and production excellence, with a few surprises and friends thrown in.

Brilliant stuff and exactly in keeping with the ethos of the label.

Thanks to everyone that’s bought the album - it’s Bandcamp Friday today, so the platform kindly waives their fees, meaning more goes to the artists.

So today’s a great day to pick up Bonded Pairs, anything from quiet details or fields we found, or support the other artists and labels you love.

Thanks so much for the support for Bonded Pairs friends - quiet details can be interpreted in endless ways, and this album is a wonderful example taking it places that captivate and entrance constantly throughout the listening experience.

Percussive, textural, emotional, mesmeric - Dane Law @_dane_law_ & Chants @chantswi are such a well-matched pair they’ve fashioned a work that stands unique in the series, and I’m so pleased to share it with you.

For the next release in the quiet details series, it’s my great pleasure to share with you a wonderful collaboration from the perfectly-matched pair of Adam Parkinson and Jordan Cohen, otherwise know as Dane Law & Chants, with Bonded Pairs

Listening Party tomorrow Thursday 3rd September 19:00 UK time - hope you can be there - free to join and all welcome x  Hypnotic percussive structures and ever-evolving textures are the core of the album - realised by a range of acoustic instruments, and custom-built software processing.  The creative imagination on display here is truly something to behold - their tactile instrumental skills provide incredible source material, and their mastery of computer-based transformations allows them to shape these complex collages. Defying classification, this is an album of huge scope and inventiveness.  As they say:
Materials: guitar, drums, cello, saxophone, trumpet, balafon, and voice.  Transmuted digitally to access the ineffable.

Guitar and drums take centre stage, melodic and metrical - sampled, rearranged, merged into shifting rhythmical patterns that move in and out of focus. These are complimented by the textural beauty of the other instruments, giving harmonic depth to the pieces, and the arrangements’ true musical maturity.  Intricate polyrhythms, emotive diversity, ineffable soundscapes - the album as a whole is unique quiet details interpretation, and it’s an honour to share it with you.  Huge thanks to Dane Law & Chants, a fantastic addition to the series.

Coming soon - qd53 Dane Law & Chants - Bonded Pairs

Great to be back after a summer break, hope all good your side! Very happy to say that coming next week is the latest addition to the quiet details series - a masterwork of drums, guitar, digital manipulation and all round sonic gratification, from the perfectly matched pair that is Dane Law & Chants, with Bonded Pairs @_dane_law_ @chantswi

Out next Wednesday 2nd September, digital and CD editions. As always the physical edition comes with the unique long-form version of the album and bespoke six panel digi-pack, with separate artwork and glass-mastered CD.

Listening party Thursday 3rd September at 19:00 UK time.

These two cemented their reputation as a collaboration of wonderfully balanced talents with their first outing on The Trilogy Tapes @thetrilogytapes ; and have fascinating catalogues of solo and other works.

Dane Law, Adam Parkinson, known for his deep programming skills with Max/MSP and more, plus nuanced guitar and production work; and Chants, Jordan Cohen, drummer of huge dexterity and producer/engineer of great skill.

Together they’ve crafted an album of rhythmic complexity and harmonic beauty. Employing a texturally complimentary range of acoustic instruments, which provided a rich and colourful palette of sample material - they’ve created an album of shifting moods and multi-layered sophistication.

Goodbye 2025, I don't think I released any music last year, but I sure did hear a lot, and I (and some amazing collaborators) sure did make some records that I hope see the world this year. Maybe that's why I didn't read more books.

In the New Orleans brass band side of my musical world I was able to play with some true personal heroes, and I'm stronger for it (in the way that only playing with better musicians can make you). Looking forward to playing live and making records this year. ❤️ by @chantswi
