A clip from Bourbon Street Parade. Will post the intro and ending later. But this is special. Every time I play with @leroyjazzy at @northstreetcabaret magical things happen.

It’s been two years since we’ve brought Leroy Jones to Madison. It’s safe to say that is clearly too long. Having @leroyjazzy come to Madison so often is an honor and a treat.

To call him a friend, mentor and musical guide, isn’t enough. His playing continues to wow me and everyone that comes to see him. Enjoy some photos from the last couple of days.

The sketch of me playing was done by a @sunprairiebands student. He also did one of Leroy on night 2.

Enjoy these photos taken by various people.

October is here and so is another duo of artists to hear.
.
Chants - aka Jordan Cohen - is a Wisconsin-based producer and drummer with releases on The Trilogy Tapes, Maloca Records, Astral Plane Recordings, Impossible City Records, Hush Hush Records, Dutty Artz, and more. His work explores the intersection of organic textures and electronic techniques, and is informed rhythmically & sonically by the dancefloor even when not aiming at it explicitly.
.
Dane Law & Chants began working on new material in 2024, and released Bonded Pairs on the quiet details label in September 2026. This album grew out of the process of making another album, a follow-up to Gurum Triads that will be released later this year. Chants took tracks that were created during those sessions and used them as the starting point for new pieces, along with repurposed guitar, cello, trumpet, drums, balafon, and vocal stems. All of the sounds started acoustically and were transmuted digitally. It’s the duo’s take on an ambient record, with a variety of approaches inspired by the concept of the label.

Dane Law & Chants Q&A Part One - background and philosophy - awesome party yesterday! Bandcamp Friday too

Big thanks for a packed session last night friends - pure positivity and a lot of love for Bonded Pairs!

Dane Law & Chants are new to many of you, it’s always a pleasure to introduce such talented artists to the quiet details community - thanks so much for welcoming them and your wonderfully open-minded outlook on music.

The idea behind quiet details has always been to explore how diverse musicians can interpret the label’s name - genres are vague at the best of times, here it’s just artists I love, and their complete creative freedom to take the idea wherever they want.

Adam @_dane_law_ and Jordan @chantswi did an incredible job - percussion meets guitar meets digital manipulation and production excellence, with a few surprises and friends thrown in.

Brilliant stuff and exactly in keeping with the ethos of the label.

Thanks to everyone that’s bought the album - it’s Bandcamp Friday today, so the platform kindly waives their fees, meaning more goes to the artists.

So today’s a great day to pick up Bonded Pairs, anything from quiet details or fields we found, or support the other artists and labels you love.

Special thanks if you bought the CD, remember to message me for the unique long-form continuous mix of the album if you did.

qd53 Dane Law & Chants - Bonded Pairs - out now!

For the next release in the quiet details series, it’s my great pleasure to share with you a wonderful collaboration from the perfectly-matched pair of Adam Parkinson and Jordan Cohen, otherwise know as Dane Law & Chants, with Bonded Pairs
@_dane_law_ @chantswi

Out now on digital and limited CD with long-form edition, six panel digipack and fine art print. Digital half-price until 11th September.

https://quietdetails.bandcamp.com/album/bonded-pairs

Listening Party tomorrow Thursday 3rd September 19:00 UK time - hope you can be there - free to join and all welcome x

Hypnotic percussive structures and ever-evolving textures are the core of the album - realised by a range of acoustic instruments, and custom-built software processing.

The creative imagination on display here is truly something to behold - their tactile instrumental skills provide incredible source material, and their mastery of computer-based transformations allows them to shape these complex collages. Defying classification, this is an album of huge scope and inventiveness.

As they say:
Materials: guitar, drums, cello, saxophone, trumpet, balafon, and voice.
Transmuted digitally to access the ineffable.

Guitar and drums take centre stage, melodic and metrical - sampled, rearranged, merged into shifting rhythmical patterns that move in and out of focus. These are complimented by the textural beauty of the other instruments, giving harmonic depth to the pieces, and the arrangements’ true musical maturity.

Intricate polyrhythms, emotive diversity, ineffable soundscapes - the album as a whole is unique quiet details interpretation, and it’s an honour to share it with you.

Huge thanks to Dane Law & Chants, a fantastic addition to the series.

Also today the second run of qd47 Appleblim @appleblim - don’t sleep on these..

Coming soon - qd53 Dane Law & Chants - Bonded Pairs

Great to be back after a summer break, hope all good your side! Very happy to say that coming next week is the latest addition to the quiet details series - a masterwork of drums, guitar, digital manipulation and all round sonic gratification, from the perfectly matched pair that is Dane Law & Chants, with Bonded Pairs @_dane_law_ @chantswi

Out next Wednesday 2nd September, digital and CD editions. As always the physical edition comes with the unique long-form version of the album and bespoke six panel digi-pack, with separate artwork and glass-mastered CD.

Listening party Thursday 3rd September at 19:00 UK time.

These two cemented their reputation as a collaboration of wonderfully balanced talents with their first outing on The Trilogy Tapes @thetrilogytapes ; and have fascinating catalogues of solo and other works.

Dane Law, Adam Parkinson, known for his deep programming skills with Max/MSP and more, plus nuanced guitar and production work; and Chants, Jordan Cohen, drummer of huge dexterity and producer/engineer of great skill.

Together they’ve crafted an album of rhythmic complexity and harmonic beauty. Employing a texturally complimentary range of acoustic instruments, which provided a rich and colourful palette of sample material - they’ve created an album of shifting moods and multi-layered sophistication.

Huge thanks to them both, look forward to sharing it with you next week!

Also next week is the much-anticipated qd47 Appleblim @appleblim second run - don’t sleep on these if you want!

Read the full post here, with links to other Dane Law & Chants music, and loads of shout-outs to supporters of our releases - big thanks to them as always!
