CIVIC: Broadening Concept of Citizen

Current urban structures are designed solely for humans, often excluding animals from the city. This project redefines animals as urban users and proposes physical norms for coexistence through functional objects. By mitigating conflicts between human and animal spaces, it envisions an environment where animals can thrive sustainably within the city.

contact

Offices are not merely for productivity but for human connection and creative collaboration. contact is designed for shared office areas, facilitating communication and engagement at the intersection of people's movements.

This standing handrail allows users to rest comfortably at elbow height. Integrated thermoelectric and pressure sensors within the handle capture and accumulate energy from the physical contact of leaning.

When energy levels reach the 20% functional mark, it triggers a rhythmic, air-purifying flow and diffuses cedarwood fragrance. These changes offer users natural ventilation and a calming atmosphere within the shared space.

crong 🦖

Crong is a sofa designed around the concept of “Mutual Gaze.” Its structure encourages users to face one another, fostering natural interaction and conversation. It functions as a social space when shared and as a comfortable seat for individual use when occupied alone. By accommodating both personal comfort and interpersonal connection within a single form, Crong redefines the sofa as more than furniture - it becomes a medium that invites people to reconnect through shared presence and eye contact.

STAY

STAY is an Ortholite foam stool designed for park creation, ecological restoration, and the activation of urban green spaces. While urban greenery is often delivered as a finished outcome, leaving citizens as passive consumers, STAY transforms the simple act of sitting into an act of ecological participation.

Before sitting, users place seeds beneath the seat. As their weight compresses the foam structure, the seeds are guided into an internal chamber while the outlet closes. When the user stands, the stool returns to its original form, reopening the outlet and releasing the seeds into the soil. Each interaction leaves a small imprint where seeds are planted, gradually contributing to visible growth over time.

By enabling people to actively participate in the formation of green spaces, STAY reconnects urban ecology with everyday physical experience.
