💭 dark academia masterlist ⋯ i made a similar post two years ago but it was high time for an update so here are 72(!!!) dark academia book recommendations ☕️ they are in no particular order because it already took me way too many hours to compose the list lmao. the only “kind of” order there is, is that i have read all of them from the beginning until “the exorcism of faeries” on slide 2. the rest are on my tbr or books i’m interested in reading therefore i cannot wholeheartedly recommend them, they’re more of a suggestion.

on that note i truly hope you find this post useful because i poured my soul into making this!!! if you do, please share and repost, that would help me tons 🤍

disclaimer: i used the broad definition of dark academia in which dark themes are discussed in an academic setting, be it a school or a library etc. therefore i’ve also added fantasy and sci-fi books. we might not agree on some of these but that’s alright! luckily we are all readers with unique tastes. what a boring place bookstagram would be otherwise. so be warned that i will not entertain anyone in the comments fighting about “this book is not dark academia” instead i’d like to remind these people that they are free to make up their own book recommendations list! by @chapterswithlili

lately i’ve been getting into journaling so of course i fell down the rabbit hole of leather journals. i have a few for different purposes but this one will be my diary, where i write about my daily life and dump all my thoughts. i’m very excited to get into this new hobby that has quite literally taken over my life (i haven’t read a single page in days…). anyway hi to the journaling community, i’m one of yours now!

books i’m excited to read this autumn vs. books i’m excited for YOU to read this autumn. the best season of the year for reading!

fun fact if you didn’t know, in a previous life (that sounds dramatic) i used to stream video games on twitch! i admit that i don’t make a lot of time for gaming anymore. working a full time job means i have limited free time that i’d rather spend reading, journaling, or watching movies and tv shows. however, every now and then, especially during the weekend, i love to get immersed in a (cosy) video game. so here are a few games that i recommend playing during autumn!

sometimes you just need a cosy book that feels like drinking a honey and cinnamon hot chocolate and receiving a warm hug from a loved one. these books are also perfect for autumn!

since i’ve been getting into journaling, here’s my current rotation: i tend to mostly read ebooks at the moment, then i love writing reviews in my media journal. my other journals are my diary and my pocket journal on the go (my favourite is the DIY sudoku book i’ve made, now i’m never bored when i leave the house). would anyone be interested in a journal ecosystem post soon?

while it is still quite sunny and warm here, the colder weather is fastly approaching so here are some atmospheric and immersive books that are perfect to read on a rainy day!

telling you if the books i read in september are worth it with a yes, no, or maybe. here are my honest thoughts as a slow reader with a 9-5 corporate job. unfortunately i’m still in a bit of a reading slump but luckily i did read some unexpected pleasant surprises during my vacation in rhodes!

october means bringing out all the dark and gothic books currently on my tbr shelf! this is probably the best reading month of the whole year. no pressure though. my tbr is looking pretty exciting if i may say so myself! if all goes well, i would love to add the sequels from ninth house and innamorata (i received an arc of necromantica recently) but it seems a bit too ambitious… so we’ll see.
