After almost 2 years, the mural is finally complete. This was commissioned by @soundtransit for the Kent Des Moines light rail station in WA. It is located below the tracks on a wall facing north. The Kent station is just two stops south of the Seattle airport, so you can take the light rail whenever you visit Seattle to see it.
Measuring 10x15 feet. For scale, here is a picture of me with Sarah Kavage @kavasar (the other artist) and @kateagogo who was our consultant and mural teacher through the process. We did a lot of the installation at Kate’s studio under her supervision.
This mural was made with the blind/low vision in mind. Sarah Kavage and I spent most of 2025 researching and meeting with the visually impaired students of @highlinecollege @hcdisabilityculturalcenter . They helped us a lot on figuring out what surfaces, textures, elements, materials and colors would work.
All of 2026 was spent in fabrication and installation of the project. It has been a lot of hard work but also rewarding seeing such a huge piece of work put in public.
This is a treat for fiber artists as well. I got an opportunity to incorporate my love for fiber arts, knitting, fabric, quilting and represent them in clay.

Thrilled to hear that “Topography” has been selected for 2027 @quiltnational exhibit.
Dimensions: 73”x 55”
And yes, it has a jagged edge.
Driven by a fascination with color, this work explores the variations of green I achieved through experiments in dyeing fabric. The composition is pieced improvisationally, prioritizing the movement of value across the surface. The resulting patterns evoke an aerial perspective of vast, sweeping fields which are further highlighted with quilting fluid topography lines by @charansachar

Dyed a linen cotton shirt. I am liking this and now the ideas are brewing in my head. I do wish they stitched clothes with cotton thread so that would dye as well. The white polyester thread is annoying by @charansachar

Shout out to @evanitaewm for making custom 3D printed tools and cookie cutters which helped me accomplish 100s of leaves, tiles and textures on this mural.
Another shout out to @clayartcentertacoma where I purchased all the clay and glaze materials. Their guidance throughout my clay journey has been so helpful. by @charansachar
