At the 2026 EPPIC Convening, fellows from 26 university partners across Texas worked together in cross-university teams, tackling shared challenges like certification exam support, residency design, and stronger district partnerships.

These fellows spent the week learning improvement science fundamentals, applying those protocols to understand how their challenge shows up on their own campus, and planning the data collection and first tests of change that come next.

As these fellows return to their campuses, they carry that fuel forward: for their students, for each other, and for the next generation of Texas teachers.

Our Foundation was proud to host the Texas Teacher Preparation Funders Collaborative, a coalition of funders working to strengthen high-quality teacher preparation pathways across Texas.

One focus of this session: HB 2 implementation, hearing directly from TEA and the districts and prep programs putting the law's new pathways into practice.

Grateful to learn from and collaborate with this group as we all work toward a well-prepared, certified teacher workforce.

This month, the Charles Butt Foundation and @houstonendowment brought together seven community college and university pathway programs for the Houston Teacher Pathways Consortium convening.

Together, these partners are working toward a shared goal: develop lasting partnerships between community colleges and universities to maintain a pipeline of teacher candidates who graduate from a Houston-area public school and return to a Houston-area public school to teach.

This week, the Charles Butt Foundation's Research Community of Practice gathered in San Antonio for our Fall Convening. Researchers, Partner Organizations and ESC representatives from across Texas came together to share regional research updates, learn from one another, and map the next steps for their regional research-practice partnerships.

This convening brought together teams from:
@cityeducationpartners
@elpasocf
CREEED
@fortworthep
@goodreasonhouston
@prosperwaco

Researchers from @texastech @utep_miners @tamusanantonio @tarletonstate @bayloruniversity @universityofhouston

Strong partnerships are built through sustained, intentional action. This community continues to show what that looks like, engaging in collaborative conversations, diving deep into research design and plans, and committing to next steps together.

Thank you to all of the Research CoP members who brought their expertise and energy to the room. We are grateful to learn alongside you! by @charlesbuttfdn

973 Scholars. 21,406 this year alone. One growing community of educators.

183 new Charles Butt Scholars walked into their own classrooms this year. That brings our total to 973 Scholar Alumni teaching across Texas since 2018.

That's roughly 21,406 students this year alone with a Charles Butt Scholar as their teacher, and that number only grows.

85% of Texas teachers say the same thing: helping students reach their potential is one of the greatest benefits of teaching.

As a new school year begins, we are grateful for every educator who chooses, day after day, to make a difference in students' lives.
