And how come Batman doesn’t dance anymore?

On November 28th at 11:15pm, I will be co-presenting South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut in 35mm with @chas.finster as part of his series, The Late Show. Over the last couple of years, the Music Box has counter-programmed an unconventional musical alongside their Sound of Music Sing-Along shows (Phantom of the Paradise in 2024, Across the Universe in 2025). As I suggested we find another musical, we floated a few ideas before landing here - a perfect film for this time slot. Here’s the thing - on paper, this is not usually the type of film I’d champion. Crass, vulgar, and occasionally offensive, this film might’ve lost me if it wasn’t so clever, sincere, and genuinely funny, embracing both its satire and its stupidity. The easiest way for a movie musical to win me over is for it to LOVE that it’s a movie musical (more rare than you’d think!!!). South Park makes fun of many things, but it never makes fun of the fact that it’s a musical, and that’s a lot of why I think it works. Trey Parker and Marc Shaiman’s work is funny, catchy, and complex, serving the film beautifully. I cannot wait to help share the film on a beautiful 35mm print this Thanksgiving! It’s gonna be super, thanks for asking!

(Also, fun fact, this was the first R-rated movie I ever saw. I watched it on early YouTube broken up into ten parts 😅) by @chas.finster

Next Saturday @musicboxchicago I’m teaming up with Music Box of Horrors to present the bloody, bawdy good time DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT in glorious 35mm. You’ve never seen this classic vampire tale until you’ve seen it through the eyes of Mel Brooks.

Forget The World Cup! Screw The All-Star Game! My next show @musicboxchicago is a tribute to genuine integrity and dignity in athletic competition, BASEketball!

The Late Show makes its Theater 3 debut with this ballsy sports saga starring the wizards behind South Park and written/directed by the maniacs behind Airplane! And The Naked Gun.

My next show @musicboxchicago is a cinematic journey unlike any other. A pioneering adventure into the heart of the unknown and an affirmation of the American Dream.

Of course I’m talking about HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE.

Good news, everyone! I am now employed as House Manager @musicboxchicago. Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel to be working at one of the greatest theaters in the world—one whose programming and exhibition I’ve been a fan of since I was a little kid pouring through showtimes in the Chicago Tribune.

Thank you to everyone who helped me get here!

It’s great to be back in a theatre. This feels like a homecoming—especially being back in Chicagoland.

This also means I’m moving to the city! So friends new and old, get at me!

I’m a Chicagoan now and the view is fantastic!
