Since the beginning of time ‘twas written in the stones that one day a band would come. And come they shall. When a dragon-hearted dreamer with visions of rock n roll glory, JB, makes his way to Hollywood and discovers laid back axe shedder KG, together they forge the greatest band in the world. In TENACIOUS D IN THE PICK OF DESTINY, the wildly imaginative and kinetic alt-comedy duo soar to silver screen heights in a mythic musical quest for the fabled guitar pick responsible for all of rock history. But will these best friends and bandmates hold onto their righteous and holy bond when the pick’s mysterious and malevolent force is unleashed? Raise your devil horns, ‘cause this D’s gonna hit the big screen with face-melting jams and high voltage charisma. ‘Twil be fucking powerful.

Listen, movies are magic. My entire life has been defined by them: tied to milestones, memories, emotions, admiration, and inspiration. But right now at 35, they’ve never meant more to me. And it’s because of the amazing people who dedicate themselves to making movies a memorable, beautiful, and fun experience for everyone. Getting to spend an entire week at the Music Box for The Greatest Showman series was so special. @moviehousecomics programmed a perfect series, creating amazing skits and in-show gags that him and the Music Box Team absolutely killed for SEVEN days in a row!!! Every night people walked out of the theater with the biggest smiles on their faces excitedly talking about their favorite gag. The energy was electric and joyful.

A huge thank you to @moviehousecomics and @musicboxchicago for having me this week. And an even bigger thank you to all of you for coming and buying so many tapes & all my other fun stuff, chatting, and goofing around with Jesse and me. I’m always blown away by your support and it really does mean the world to me.

I am so so so lucky to be surrounded by and able to work with such creative, talented, fun, smart, and dedicated people and I’m even luckier to be able to call them all my friends. ♥️💕💀🕸️🎥🪳♥️

NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE - Saturday at Midnight on 35mm!

John Hughes High School sports every high school trope Hollywood could imagine: the handsome jock, the unique rebel, the desperate virgin, the stuck-up cheerleader, the cruelest girl, the token black guy. And whether they’re at senior prom, the varsity home game, or the rich kid’s big party—no cliché is safe from the gag-a-minute Zucker-level comedy assault that is NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE. This savage send up requires no previous homework. You need not have seen all the targeted teen classics to throw yourself back laughing at this parade of gleeful, adolescent vulgarity. Take the edge off your own embarrassing high school experience with this beyond-whacky parody that manages to both cleverly deconstruct the genre and, according to one reviewer, “break the land speed record for poop ’n’ piss jokes.” Ah, to be young!

I’m so excited to be hosting the Music Box Lounge’s first VHS Swap on Saturday, June 6th from Noon-5pm! We’ll have several vendors trading and selling tapes, so come out and hang with fellow physical media nerds! Vendors to be announced! 📼

EDIT (5/5): Vending spots are FULL. Thank you so much for your overwhelming interest - we will announce our vendors soon! Guests are encouraged to bring their own tapes, but please limit to one or two bags maximum. 📼

EDIT (5/27): We are proud to announce our vendors! @chas.finster, @night.natalie, @1999satx, @ninadngr, @rossbaycult, @stefancoisson, and @bloodyknifevideo will all be on-site for trading and selling tapes! Come and go as you please from 12-5 next Saturday!

Glory be to the ones who behold the pale horse. The third prop made for the Twin Peaks nights with Ray Wise!

I started with a support structure inside that followed the contours of the horse so that when it was covered, most of the work was already done. Then I layered strips of cardboard to cover it all up and shaped the legs and the head with smaller strips.

James @spvcespvce and Georgia @z1nz.an helped me papier mache her so she was all smooth and I sculpted in the details of the face in a papier mache paste. When that dried, Georgia and I painted her with acrylic paint.

I made some wheels to stick on the bottom of the hooves so I could wheel her out on cue during the Q&A, which worked mostly like a charm. Thanks Charlie @chas.finster for being on horse modesty duty.

This is the biggest cardboard sculpture I've made and it was definitely challenging trying to make something look organic and real out of flat sheets of cardboard, but it was rewarding to figure that out. Proud that I look at that and think "yeah, that's a horse".

Thank you Georgia and James for lending your hands, she wouldn't be what she is without you! And once again, a huge thank you to Matt @moviehousecomics for trusting me and letting me do my cardboard shenanigans in one of the best theatres out there.

My Twin Peaks trio! Laura Palmer's angel, the white horse, and the arm tree for our two nights with @therealraywise at the @musicboxchicago along with @thehorrorhouseshop!

The angel was made out of a carboard frame with a styrofoam head painted beautifully by @yooyooblue. I sculpted the hands out of a papier mache paste, the feathers were individually glued on (also with help from Yuyu), and her dress was made out of 3 different fabrics. I fixed some wire to the shoulders so she could be hooked up to our pulley system to send her down into the audience.

The arm tree was graciously provided by @mortonarb, @moviehousecomics trimmed him down, and I made a papier mache head for him.
