Some pics from the beginning of my Appalachian Trail Southbound journey 😌

Pretty quickly, I’ve realized this is a whole different game than the PCT…

I saw a moose my first night (thought it was a bear hahaha), I’ve been rained on nearly every day, shelters are cool, the bugs are insane (my legs are welts from the mosquitoes and black flies) and the trail goes straight up and down over steep rocks which has destroy my knees BUT…

All the things the make the trail hard are the same things that make it so rewarding, so just gotta keep trucking 👌

Also… what is the difference between a pond and a lake?!? 😭

And for those interested in the written blog, I’ll be posting state by state

AT SOBO - Pennsylvania, Part 1

Started PA of with a nice lil 24 mile slack pack then chilled in Delaware Water Gap for ramen and jazz. The rocks lived up to their reputation but definitely got more views than I expected

AT SOBO - New Jersey

Only spanning 72.4 miles, New Jersey surprised me in a good way. This section had great views, fun rock scrambles, and cheap drinks! It ended with crossing the Delaware River into PA on a busy highway, where Peach and I convinced some passing by trucks to honk their horns and help us celebrate 😅

AT SOBO - Side Quest - New York City

I had always planned on going into the city but never imagined that one of my favorite artists, Zeds Dead, would be playing a show at the same time

That set was nuts. The flips they did to incorporate the theme of New York were on point. Biggie, Frank Sinatra, Nas, etc.

Also got to see some friends, family, and the sights

And put the microphone to use with some nonsensical interviews. I need to ask better questions… 😅

AT SOBO - Vermont, Part 1

The first half of Vermont was lovely. My first night in the state, I traded chanterelles for a beer, joined a jam night, and slept at a nice lady’s home. That set the tone for the rest of the rest state. The mountains were lovely and the air was crisp and cool. I met a bunch of hikers, then went to the top of Killington Peak for sunset. The hiking was lovely and found a ton more chanterelles and king boletes.

Lots of swimming, smiles, and good times 😌

More Mountains and Huts! Completed the rest of the Presidential Traverse, stayed at Mizpah Hut, swam in some waterfalls, and hiked the Franconia Ridge
