Dear Basketball,

Before the lights.
Before the wins.
Before anyone was watching.

There were early mornings.
Lonely hours.
Empty gyms.
A ball.
And a promise to myself.

You taught me discipline
before confidence.
Patience
before praise.
How to fall
and get back up
without applause.

High school was where it all became real.
Where belief was tested.
Where pressure introduced itself early.
Where I learned that nothing worth keeping comes easy.

You gave me purpose.
Because of you, I met my wife.
You intertwined this game
with family.
To me, it has always been
more than just a game.

Every coach who pushed me
(especially my father).
Every teammate who sacrificed with me
(especially my brothers).
Every loss that stayed longer than the wins.

They call it a Hall of Fame induction.
But it isn’t that to me.

It’s a thank you.
For the lessons.
For the grind.
For shaping who I became
long before you ever shaped what I did.

Forever grateful.
Forever a student of the game.
Forever a kid who blindly followed his obsession
and turned it into his purpose.

In 2019 I thought basketball was over for me.
No pro contracts. No opportunities. I mentally checked out.
Didn’t touch a ball for over 8 months.

But growth doesn’t stop just because your plan changes.

I rebuilt. I trained for the love. An overseas opportunity fell into my lap — and I crushed it.
Came back, doubled down on coaching.
In 2022, I started CG Hoops with no facility, renting gyms across the city, trained outside. Sometimes nobody showed up.

So I started creating content. For over a year, I posted consistently… even when barely anyone was watching.

Fast forward:
➡️ 500K+ across platforms
➡️ A growing team
➡️ And now… a 17,000 sq ft facility.

This is what relentless growth looks like.
It’s not a straight line. It’s not easy. But every season of the journey prepares you for the next.
