🦿 STAUNCH III 🦿

VOL 3 of our STAUNCH series! A massive deep dive into the most influential sub-genres of bass, curated & executed by some of Naarm's best heavy weights in their chosen stylings. A fusion mashup of sound pushed by the full Yabai rig with no compromise on low end n' clarity!
Everyone on this lineup is no stranger to mixing on Yabai. We are blessed to be held by so much talent who very much play their part in the backbone of the bass scene from selectors, djs, producers, label owners & event organisers. They all know how it goes!
This STAUNCH is a very special one in particular as this will be the last you hear Yabai ;( We are moving North and wont be back down until this time next year... so... "Do not miss" is an under statement!

I was planning on a meditative start to yesterday morning, but instead woke pre-alarm, obsessively opened ableton and layered this Kelela vocal over my track Monte da Pedra.

If I’m NOT still making silly edits when I exit my 30s, someone pull me aside for a stern talking to.

So many kind words and messages over the last 24 hours made me really feel the love 🫶 I’m really excited about entering this decade and being able to continue sharing the music I love with people I love even more!

The big bday bash is this Saturday night - we’ve been busy preparing something really special and I can’t wait to celebrate with you all. I not sure that anyone has ever done a joint 30th/10th bday quite like this… 🎂

CHEAHDX

Some of you are still asking who CHEAHDX is. Firstly, ??? 2ndly, okay I suppose I’ll spell it out.

Rumour has it he has je ne sais quoi. What does that mean? I don’t know what. But what I do know is…

Some say he was the first to truly master onomatopoeia, labelling wubs ‘wub’.

Some say he’s the man from yesteryear your mother daydreams about when your father doesn’t look at her quite the same.

Rumour has it he was the first to play a ‘Put Your Back In It’ edit and stopped playing them right b4 it became gauche

I heard he’s your therapist’s supervisor.

Some suppose he might’ve been the one who figured out you can make L’s with your fingers to tell left from right, while simultaneously uncovering the euphorix of throwing up finger guns to dub.

He probably wears La Roche-Posay every single day (even when it’s raining).

Some say he was the one that played that dub set at the Mach 1 Concordia stage… although that might be a stretch too far.

‘Us Weekly’ ran a salacious article hypothesising he’s actually one of Brangelina’s adopted children.

I heard being posted on his story is the underground equivalent to a blue check mark

Some of you apparently are still saying he’s a physio named Darren… fuck off.

I heard the first time a spin back was ever done it was actually an accident. Then Mr DX who was just a step behind the dj gently whispered in their ear… ‘play that shit again’ the artists hairs stood straight up and music was never the same.

I heard he’s quite nice and hot.

That’s neither here nor there. All that’s certain is he lurks between kick and snare and as your eyes gently close, he brings on pure surrender to the rhythm of Gunaikurnai open air. Transcending you and I. Perched above Whimsy. Wisely watching. God? No. titf. Just Darren.

Through whispers,
Elton
