⚽️El Futobolista Fenomeno (1979):
Legendary Mexican comedy actor Adalberto Martinez “Resortes” stars in this peculiar family-friendly sci-fi soccer film where he shows the ropes of the game to some quirky extraterrestrials. Much wackiness ensues of course. A little too wacky🛸👾

Just as convoluted as the library world is, doo wop can be the same. Discussions are that this is the same Cuff Links from the Dooto label, but also that this is a white group from Brooklyn with this being its only release on Gait that later became The Clicks and re-recording Only One Love. Of course I’d rather have a first press, but this repress with original sleeve will have to do for now. One of the best bands to ever make hardcore music, originators of cool, and still makes me feel alive when listening to the songs. Pay To Cum!, Bad Brains; 1981 RE.

Westside LA punk history. I don’t live in nostalgia, but if there’s one event I wish I could’ve been at, this would be it as a Westside native who grew up listening to punk. It’s the last good era of Black Flag, The Misfits (my favorite band) would go on for another 4 months before breaking up and The Vandals getting ready to drop their first LP. Been after a flyer for this show for a minute and while it’s not the Pettibon artwork, still super happy to have found this yesterday. by @cheddabrown

On this day in 1981, the epic & popular Mexican action-crime film known as “Pistoleros Famosos” (Famous Gunmen) was released in Mexico. Filming took place a year before in Monterrey, Nuevo León🇲🇽🎞️🥃🍺

“Pistoleros Famosos” was a big deal when it first came out since it featured an all-star cast & also featured several popular musicians as well. This action-crime film is loosely based on real Mexican outlaws & how they became legends (or “famous”) throughout regional Mexico.

Here’s a throwback picture of host/producer @cheddabrown & @trash_mex_ at @thefoldlineposterco holding up an original one-sheet poster of Pistoleros Famosos just after recording our episode about the film.
