8 years of Cheer Up Luv…🥺❤️‍🩹

Thank you to everyone who supported along the way, to those who agreed to be my first ever photo subjects, and to everyone who has been a part of this wild, unpredictable and completely amazing journey…let’s see if we have another 8 years 🫣

#cheerupluv by @cheerupluv

the Slap On The Wrist music video in collaboration with @cheerupluv drops on Tuesday 🩵 all the scenarios you see in the video are based on real survivors’ testimonies collected anonymously from the Cheer Up Luv community. With this video we wanted to highlight that sexual assault is an everyday threat to women and gender minorities - that even the most mundane activities like going for a run or turning up to work can pose a threat.

Survivors, this one is for you and your bravery. We believe you and your story matters ✊ directed by the incredible @elizahatch and @sarahdatttani by @cheerupluv

Reintroducing myself because there have been some important updates!!!🙂

When you see it, you can’t unsee it.

These weren’t even some of the worst ones 🙂

#happyhalloween by @cheerupluv

One of the scariest things about Halloween? 🎃👻💀

It’s the glaringly difference in how men and women’s costumes are WILDLY seggsualised. In some cases, a Drs outfit for a woman just a lab coat…with nothing underneath 👍👩‍⚕️

And don’t even get me started on the “sxc” school uniforms…this has a DIRECT impact on how schoolgirls are seggsualised in our culture and harassed on our streets.

The Little Feminist Bookclub are calling on the Prime Minister to ban the use of school uniform being worn in p🌽ographic content, to stop to the seggsualisation of children.

In a 2018 survey of 1,000 girls aged 14-21 by Plan International found that:

➡️ 35% had received unwanted sexual attention while in school uniform.
➡️ 13% when they were 12 or under
➡️ 8% had been filmed by a stranger without their consent while in a school uniform.

A huge part of my work has always been addressing the level of harassment girls face in their school uniforms - the seggsualisjng of those uniforms is directly part of this.

When I started interviewing and photographing survivors for Cheer Up Luv - a majority of stories always began with “I was on my way to school” and “I was in my uniform.”

Schoolgirls have been overtly seggsualised in our culture, from the popularity of “naughty schoolgirl” halloween costumes, to the way Britney Spears was objectified as a 17 year old with- ‘Baby One More Time’ and the vast amount of easily accessible and underage coded p🌽ography online.

Last week, I spoke at a rally for Cornell University’s #JaneDoe outside London’s Royal Justice Court. People showed up in the rain in a moving and beautiful display of solidarity. ❤️

Solidarity, awareness and campaigning are shifting the culture of male violence against women and girls. It’s hard to remember this at times, but we must.

My full speech, for those who want to read it, is below:

The culture that sanctioned what happened to Jane Doe at Cornell University is not an anomaly, it is a system designed to harm women and protect perpetrators.

In order to successfully deconstruct rape culture, we must all see that it is exactly that - a culture.

Not a one-off, not “bad apples”, not random attacks.

Male violence against women and girls is sustained by myths like these, myths that society constantly feeds through its insidious misogyny.

Reports found that 97% of women who contacted Rape Crisis said they knew the person who raped them.

This is a moment of mass confrontation, and every one of you who has turned up today is doing your part in dismantling patriarchy. These movements of collective rage, awareness and education matter. They do move the needle. They are dismissed precisely because of their power to the status quo.

Our collective duty is to protect the Jane Does of the world. Today, women are still left doing the lion’s share of this work. I know how unfair it is, but I will not give up on a better future where patriarchy’s chokehold on the world is released.

We must continue to demand faster and more thorough change from all the institutions upholding our injury. If these institutions - like schools, universities and justice systems - cease to operate as soft places for abusive men to land, I believe that boys and men will have no other choice but to change for the better.

No more upside-down world where the person who has been raped is punished more than their rapists.

No more essays and coverups.

No more excuses.

No more Jan Does. by @cheerupluv

New day, new hellish hurdle on this app ❌🔥📲👩🏼‍💻

I just objected to Meta using my content to train its generative AI….yay🙃 here’s how you can too➡️

Once again, Meta have updated their AI policy (and have opted everyone in by default - of course!)

From Nov 20th Meta will be allowing their AI to collect all content from business accounts on IG, Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger to train their products.

We shouldn’t have to ACCIDENTALLY stumble across this information online about another astonishing violation of our privacy - nobody should be automatically opted in to this. (wtf?)

Swipe right to find out how you can object & share with anyone who needs to see this ➡️❌❌❌ by @cheerupluv

This is a clip from ‘War Zone’ - a film by award-winning filmmaker Maggie Hadleigh-West, who captures what it feels like to be a woman on the street.

Hadleigh-West believed that the streets are a kind of War Zone for women. Armed with only a video-camera, she demonstrates this experience by turning and confronting her abusers, reclaiming space that was stolen from her.

This film gives voice and expression to a disturbing daily aspect of being a woman in society, and in a cultural environment that does nothing to discourage men from heckling, following, touching or disparaging women in public spaces.

It also gives men a direct personal feeling for what harassing behaviour looks and feels like to a woman.

‘Sweethearts’ is an art installation in Sydney representing the 56 women kill3d in Australia in 2026 alone.

This urgent artwork created by Philippa Lysaght @piplysaght and Omi McCurdie @omimccurdie confronts the epidemic of femicide in Australia - specifically, the words and phrases used to excuse and blame it on women.

At Sydney’s Sculpture by the Sea exhibition “Sweethearts,” features 56 concrete candy hearts, each heart shows phrase like “He was drunk,” “Boys will be boys,” “She coulda left” and “Asked for it.”

These are common phrases which normalise violence and place the blame on victims. These phrases were generated by the artists through a series of workshops - they are real, relatable and they are uncomfortably familiar.

Sweethearts is a call to action for all of us to STOP minimising violence, excusing abuse and shifting the blame.

Next time you hear someone say any of these excuses - don’t accept it.
Call it out.

‼️POST CORRECTION: The artwork and the number of hearts is reflective of women killed by violence in Australia, not just intimate partner of violence. This is an important distinction because it includes women killed by their family, colleagues, members of the community, or strangers. It just goes to show, there are no safe spaces for women. by @cheerupluv

Did you know that 16-19 year olds face the HIGHEST rates of domestic abuse in England - but compulsory seggs and relationship education ends at age 16?🤔😱

That means mandatory RSE ends EXACTLY at the age young people begin to explore relationships for the first time – and instead, that gap in learning is filled by:
➡️ P🌽
➡️ The man0sphere
➡️ AI

These unregulated sources become the unofficial curriculum: teaching young people harmful ideas about seggs, relationships and consent without the guidance they need.

Yesterday, I joined @makeitmandatory and @killedwomennw ’s call to action- bringing together MP’s and campaigners outside Parliament to demand making this education mandatory.

We are asking the Gov to back the bill on Dec 4th, where MPs will have the chance to make young people safer by voting to extend compulsory RSE to 18.

You can ask your MP to back for the bill via this 🔗 in @cheerupluv bio
