Such fun judging the @aspenco #mactoberfest competition once again (in September 😂). Honored to be joined this year by Aspen’s @michelinusa chef @barxo @bosqaspen We took our judging job seriously! This year, our choice was Aspen newcomer @lola41restaurants at the tony @whiteelephantaspen Creative, balanced, cheesy(!), and delicious. 👏👏👏 @meatandcheeseaspen got creative with their cross cultural lumpia mac & cheese - the crowd fave. Everyone did fantastically, though. Best year yet! Here’s to 2027 (and a great excuse to come to Aspen… as if you needed one). #macandcheeseplease by @cheezelady

Why does donkey cheese cost $600 per pound?

Turophile, author, and educator Laura Werlin (@cheezelady) has stories to tell.

After leaving TV news, her debut, “The New American Cheese” (2000), earned a full-page New York Times book review and a national tour.

Laura’s follow-up, “The All American Cheese and Wine Book”, won a prestigious James Beard Foundation award.

Now Laura is finishing her most ambitious project: a 400-page “World Atlas of Cheese”—written in part at CANOPY’s Fillmore location, where she recently became a member.

Day One in beautiful Wisconsin and a return visit to my very favorite @uplandscheese to see #mastercheesemaker Andy Hatch who helped me find the PERFECT wheel of Pleasant Ridge Reserve for my seminar with wine speaker/raconteur @anthonygiglio at the inimitable @foodandwine #fwclassic in #aspen in June. And perfect it was. Then, on to cheese curd landscape, because, of course, and found the PERFECT ones at #arenacheesefactory Literal squeakers - sooo fresh. And then to the Mother Ship - @wisconsincheese and the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, offices where cows, milk, ice cream, and of course, cheese, take center stage. Oh, happy day.

Well, the 20th annual @caartisancheesefestival has come and gone and what a GREAT one it was. Biggest wow ever. Huge thanks to @petrahigby and @thecaviarco for bringing it in every way to make a fantastic and delicious cheese and caviar pairing. SO eye opening - I can’t wait to do it again! And thanks to the magnificent Alyssa Gilbert, @olliescheeseshop and new @cacheeseguild executive director, who knocked it out of the park. So too Joslyn Thoresen from @pennyroyalfarm whose sparkling wine was (and is) the icing on the cheese and caviar cake. 🍾 And to all the cheesemakers. Let’s just say your cheese showed really well with caviar - my new favorite pairing.

Congratulations to @beemstercheese @beemster_kaas for taking the top spot in the bi-annual world @cheese_contest in #wisconsin. The Royaal Grand Cru is SO worthy of the award. 🏆 Lucky for me I had it in my fridge already! ☺️Thrilled for CONO farmers and everyone at Beemster.👏
