One day I will be able to travel and post at the same time but today is NOT that day! 😜

Late but full of LOVE for @sfwcfiesta ❤️

Santa Fe, you were a delicious blur. 🍷🌶️ Great wines, food, enough green and red chile to keep things interesting, and of course, THE PEOPLE. Seriously, the people are what make this festival so damn special. ❤️

A giant thank-you to our queen, Mary Hallahan, and her A-team for making the magic happen. I’m still smiling and I'm still dressing like I might be riding off into the sunset. 🤠😘🥂

I was fortunate to catch up with friend & award winning cheesemaker Gabriela @tataflo to discuss her background & learn about her passion for cheesemaking.

Gabriela of @quesosdelrebano is currently one of the five farmstead cheesemakers we will be visiting during my Central Mexico Cheesemaking Tour.

Together we will visit @tataflo sheep farm, tour her cave and learn about what it takes to produce lactic set & natural rind aged cheeses in central Mexico.

This video is one of a two part series, so stay tuned for the 2nd reel!

If you are interested in joining me on this incredible tour to Mexico in January, make sure to sign up by August 1st … which is only 2 weeks away!

Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta
September 23-27 🍷

One of my favorite memories from a past Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta was Tim Gaiser’s wine and cheese pairing seminar.

This year, I will be volunteering @sfwcfiesta attending a couple of seminars I’ve been looking forward to, and spending plenty of time at Saturday’s Grand Tasting.

I’m especially excited for Judgment of Paris: 50 Years Later. The 1976 blind tasting completely changed the way the world viewed American wine, and fifty years later we’ll revisit that historic event while tasting wines from iconic producers including @chmontelena @stagsleapwinecellars @heitzcellar @ridgevineyards and @freemarkabbey It’s one of those stories that never gets old.

I also signed up for Le Grand Fromage with Master Sommelier @tim.gaiser7 and cheese expert @cheezelady The class celebrates the Fiesta’s 35th anniversary and explores the relationship between great wines and exceptional cheeses through curated pairings and the stories behind them. Honestly… wine and cheese? You didn’t have to convince me.

Then it’s on to Saturday’s Grand Tasting, where I’ll happily spend the afternoon tasting, learning, and seeing what’s new.

Looking forward to another memorable week in Santa Fe. 🍇

Why does donkey cheese cost $600 per pound?

Turophile, author, and educator Laura Werlin (@cheezelady) has stories to tell.

After leaving TV news, her debut, “The New American Cheese” (2000), earned a full-page New York Times book review and a national tour.

Laura’s follow-up, “The All American Cheese and Wine Book”, won a prestigious James Beard Foundation award.

Now Laura is finishing her most ambitious project: a 400-page “World Atlas of Cheese”—written in part at CANOPY’s Fillmore location, where she recently became a member.
