The origin of Dodo Ikire is wrapped in legend.
According to local stories, an old woman in Ikire once had some overripe plantains that were too soft to fry the usual way. Instead of throwing them away, she mashed them, mixed in pepper, and fried them in palm oil.

The result was so delicious that it became a local favorite and over time, travelers on the old Ibadan-Ife road began buying it from Ikire vendors, spreading its fame across southwestern Nigeria

Exactly a week ago , we hosted our very own first of its kind dinner - Flavors across motherland. This wasn’t just a dinner, it was a celebration of our heritage, people, culture, origin, food and growth .
This was an exclusive food story telling event, bringing together 25 guests from different socioeconomic groups, backgrounds, stories, experiences, language, cultures, colors and beliefs. All connecting, engaging and networking over food, wine and nostalgia .
This was a true definition of farm to table fine dining experience highlighting sustainability to its core and our indigenous ingredients, all thanks to @consalagro for this key partnership and their role in this.

Grateful to God for making this possible and being by our side despite all the hassle encountered.

We are beyond honored and humbled to have had such prestigious beautiful faces dine on our table and share our stories with us.

No man is an island and the vision wouldn’t have come to reality without a solid team by our side .

Our mission remains the same, searching for farms that truly grows food organically.

From walking through strawberry fields to discovering a farm dedicated to organic practices, the experience reminded us that good food starts with the soil and the people who care for it.

We also had the privilege of meeting a woman who owns an Atile (African olive) farm and learning about the many ways this incredible fruit is used within her community.

Every step of this journey is deepening our understanding of where our ingredients come from and why supporting farmers who grow food the right way matters.

As chefs, we work with ingredients every day, but sometimes we forget the journey they take before they reach our kitchens.
So we traveled to Jos, to reconnect with the land, the farmers, and the people who grow the food we cook with.
Here, farming is not just work - it’s heritage. From fresh vegetables to grains, legumes, and seeds, every crop tells a story of patience, climate, and generations of knowledge.
Meeting the farmers, walking through the fields, and hearing their stories reminded us that good food truly begins long before it reaches the plate.
This trip wasn’t just research. It was a reminder that real cooking starts with respect for the land, the people, and the ingredients.
Stay tuned as we continue our search for organically growing vegetables, as this is just day 1
